Wow I didn't know that! That would be awesome since I'm from Colombia and they don't normally have a lot of Colombian students! Best of luck on the fin aid packages

Financial aid at Yale is mostly need based. They do offer financial aid to people who gets accepteed from the wait list. They don't give full tuition, average aid is 15k/year. Last year they accepted 20-25 people from the wait list but no idea out of how many. And they said these numbers change every year. To those accepted at Yale, did you hear about financial aid packages yet?

Thanks for the info! Waiting is getting is very hard. Though I talked to them last week and the problem is that they wont let us know anything at least until April 15th, unless tons of people decline admission super early... If you don't mind I would like to know how the fin aid packages look, in case someone can share that info... Giving that is a MAJOR factor for me, and it would be at least a small idea of what it might be if I get a chance to enroll.

Yes, this was one of my biggest worries. I contacted them and they said that people who got a spot will also be considered for financial aid. However, I don't think we will be very high on the list, so the award might be less that what we would have gotten if we were admitted in he first round! To those admitted to Yale. Anyone has decided for sure to attend other program (Duke, U penn, Columbia etc) ?

@LHL. I had Yale as my top choice basically for my interest on sustainability. They have the specialization program in sustainable urban and industrial systems, while in Duke I'll have to mix classes from EPP and other concentration to fit my interests. Yale also has the center for business and the environment, that I thought would be interesting to work in, given the major involvement of professors from Yale SOM. However, I recently read about the business and environment track on the EPP concentration at Duke and it caught my attention, since is pretty much what I wanted to do at Yale. So, If I don't get a spot on Yale I'll be very happy at Duke. Another reason, more on the financial aspect, Yale gives more money to international students than any other school and they give their financial packages on need basis. So, that would have help me a lot. For those interested in costal and marine areas, Duke is a better choice. On the Yale conference I attended they said that this was the only area where they weren't very involved.

Fall 2012 Planning admissions?
MCRM replied to KnightOfCydonia's topic in Architecture and Planning Forum
Hello to all! I just found this forum today! My focus is more environment related. Duke MEM accepted Michigan SNRE accepted Yale MEM wait listed And MIT MCP in the EPP concentration still waiting... I saw two acceptances on RS today though, via phone, was it anyone from here? I thought we weren't going to hear anything until the end of March.... -
I agree cunnin! Thanks so much Curlie-sue, I will think in some questions these next days and let you know! I'm actually writing an essay for a loan application about why Duke is one of the best schools in the world for MEM programs, so I've been reading tons and I really think we would be able to shape our master to fit our interests. Btw if anyone wants to help with ideas of why Duke is the best, I would be very grateful!

I really wish I could go, but I'm in Colombia and I can't afford to travel, plus my visa is expired so I'm not even allowed to enter the us right now hehe. I was reading trough the specializations today and there is a track on EPP on business and the environment, which I think would be great for me, combine with some EE classes. It said that you can combine some of the EPP tracks with other specializations. What are your interest? If you don't mind, when the time comes, can I please ask you to ask something for me at the open house? Or just tell me how it go. Who knows we might end up being class mates

Congratulations again to all admitted! Do you all have Yale as the best fit for you? To all of us wait listed, last year 20-25 people were admitted from the wait list, though they said this number changes every year, because it fully depends on how many people don't accept their offer. I think they will give us space when they get a class less than 140, I doubt they will start calling us when some of the 220 decline admission. I'm focusing on Duke now, I really like their program, my focus is sustainability though, and they don't have a specialization on this area, does anyone know if they are strong in this? I would guess I'll have to mix my classes from EE and EPP. Any thoughts on this? SNRE would probably be better on sustainability but there is no way I can go without financial aid.

Congratulation LHL! I'm very happy with Duke but I'm still waiting for the financial aid offer... I'm concern about whether or not we will get financial aid from Yale if we make it from the wait list to admitted students. Any thoughts in this? I also decided to eat tons if Ice cream to deal with being wait listed at my top choice of school! Thanks to everyone again for all the info!

I guess! I'm still waiting for MIT but they would have to give me an amazing fin aid package so I'm prolly gonna accept Duke's offer and wait to see what happens.... It almost feels like a rejection, for some reason I'm not very hopeful, I can't see an scenario where more than 80 people decide not to go

You are very welcome!!! And I really hope we all hear good news!!! About the GRE, yes she said that most faculty members don't even know how to interpret very well AW scores for example, so that they want us to have decent/good scores, but having a perfect GRE or GPA is not a sure admission at all! She did make a lot of comments about work experience, and how this really is taken in to account, specially when it came to decide between two similar applicants, the one with more work experience will probably make it. Fingers cross for everyone! And please the first one who hears something let us know, so we can all start checking. She said everyone will get the decisions pretty much on the same day.

Just got back from the conference! Was amazing and if possible I'm more in love with Yale more than ever! So yes, she said they wet trying to give desicions away sooner this year, but didn't tell me exact me when, so I guess I'm just gonna check my email thousands of times a day haha This year 581 people applied to all the masters programs and approximately 220 will be admitted to enroll a class of 140 more or less! Financial aid options are very kind for internationals. GRE probably the last thing they check. That was pretty much all! Hope it eases the nerves on some of you! I'm extremely anxious! Good luck to all
