  1. Okay! Thank for the information!! Thats too bad, i'd need expenses covered but I am sure your right I guess it probably depends...and I am sure its true about connections too!

  3. I acutally just applied their Triple Tall Capicino (one of my profs told me about it this morning) , and one of my profs has a connection, he says I have a shot but its competitive....but I was just wondering do you know if its usually paid? I mean there was a question on the form asking about compensation but I was confused.....and are expensescovered? If you don't know thats ok....I was jw
  4. Alright...its werid, but I guess i'll somehow be patient, are fields are similar though....idk but you applied to phd programs right?
  5. is it strange I hav eNOTHING...? this sucks....granted I also have heard nothing from the U of Minnesota. Syrcause yet....but the difference is I don't expect either one of those to work out. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind being incorrect, I am just really banking on Michigan State....
  6. I am Canadian, and partly because my parents live in the middle of no where, and partly because of the fact that American schools get out three weeks latter then Canadian schools. If I go home this summer I can't work. So I applied for OPT (allows me to work in the US for a year. Clearly, I am going (or praying to go) to school in the fall, however i want-need a summer job. ALso, OPT requires, (like all working visas in the U.S) that you work in your field. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any linguistic or wiritng, or education related (keep in mind I don't have a teaching liscence) jobs-internships. Looking sucks so I would be beyond appreciative of any help you guys could give me! Thanks!!
  7. I'm 6 credits away from graduating, have completed the bulk of tough linguistics credits, have multiple degrees, have survived all but one of a certain teachers exams, have pour hundereds of hours into applying to graduate school, have studied abroad, and have made the deans list....yet this whole waiting for acceptences may be the thing that kills me

  8. well congradulation! i just found out that linguistics has had to hire three new prohessors and thats the hold up, I don't think they havera admitted Phd students yet so I may be wiaitn for a while. Now did you apply for GA's out of your department at all??? where did you do your undergrad?
  9. Any FUnding?? and dam I am jelous when did you get your letter and are you attending??
  10. 11. Congrads on Indiana, I am studying under (I am still an undergrad) someone who did his masters and Phd there...and hes literally brilliant, I am doing n awsome phonology senior project under him. I didn't apply because I want to do a masters before my PhD, and they don't fund (or didn't in the past at least, thier MA students), will you attend Indiana?
  12. He said in his letter, all the courses I've taken with him and the grades I got. So yaaa....and I know but lviing in my parents basement next year sounds right terrible. Forigen kid=hard to find american job lol. but thanks for hoping it works out
  13. Anyone heard from Michigan State yet?? Also how common is gradaute assistantships for M.A students? ....I've applied to the M.A in Linguistics
  14. Thanks I appreciate that! I hope so too! I'll send out a letter asap and hopefully my school processes my transcript change asap! it sucks cuz next week is spring break and i doubt much will get done in our school adminisitration that week
  15. Oh and I know I am a genius for that being on my transcript for like a solid 6 weeks and me not noticing until today.....and the grade on the paper was always a B+ so I just assumed...
  16. funology, yeah I know, i've already applied to U.S Schools though, oh well I guess all I can do is hope So I don't mean to bum everyone but what would you do if you were me and you have heard from nowhere and this happens ... I did this indepedant study (TESL research project) last spring and my idiot advisor submitted the wrong paper work, and took my school a year to process. Yesterday I find out that he gave me a C-, and not only that the course was 4 credits, and has been on my transcript since early Jan (before I applied to EMU, and after my transcript had been forwarded to a few other places. Well after grade appealing and freaking out all day he admitted he made a mistake, changed the grade to a B+ what i earned, and is re-writing his letter of rec to EMU, because he told them explicitly about the C- (I mean they saw the transcript too). He says its going to take my school 24 hours to process the grade change. But I still am freaking out to the point where I wanna cry, I mean in the last three years I have a 3.5 (almost a 3.6 with the change. (but 3.4 overall) However, in an independant study related to education and linguistics only a year ago as far as some schools know I did terrible. Do you think when its fixed I should send in a new transcript?? Also, do you think I should explain why they are getting another letter of rec? (I only used him for rec letters a few times but where he mentioned the C- hes re sending) It still makes me mad because in his second letter he just says he gave me a B+ not that he messed up the first time. Sorry for the panick, just figured you'd understand better then all my none grad school going friends.
  17. Just out of curiousoity who has done, or will be doing a Linguistics MA with funding that covers at least tuition? And how was the funding offered to you? like did it come with your acceptance, or did you find a Grad assistant advertisment and applY?
  18. Your not going insane, I can't concentrate on my senior research project either, its this really tough (I think at least) phonology thing, and I am very lucky to be doing it under the professor I am working under but all I can think about is graduate school
  19. Thanks so basically I have to sit back, and not worry about it! Geeze waiting is way worse then applying lol
  20. LinguisticMystic- Thanks, ahhhh gosh waiting sucks!! i wish I applied where you did for the shear fact you have heard some stuff and I am still waiting
  21. for an MA
  22. Question does funding usually come with acceptance letters or is it typically before or after?
  23. Thats crazy maybe well be classmates! Even though honestly I hope not (because of the school-program and personal reason) but still thats kinda of cool now I found out mid march last year (defered acceptance for this fall) so I wouldn't stress about it yet.
  24. I applied to Mankato State TESOL program, but they defered my acceptance from last year so I already got in, its my last choice, I have a reason (long story lol) as to why I don't want to go to that school
