  1. Yeah that certificate would be amazing, I am interested in it as well. However, I am most interested in language aquistion or pyscholinguistics, I think I want to research (in my MA or phD) the potential barriers that second language learners can encounter, and what teachers can do to help those students overcome them. I may want to focus that on students with learning disabilities. My faviorte area though would be phonetics. Do you know 100 freesyle when EMU plans on letting us know?
  2. So I have applied to several linguistics MA programs (U of Minnesota, Colorado, Syracuse, EMU, Michigan State (where I wwant to go), one Second Language and Cultures program (U of Minnesota) (also, an MA), and the M.A TESL program at Mankato State. I need funding despertly, and am little by little realizing that most schools pour all their money into PhD canditates. I need funding, I am an international student (Canadian), I'm despert and can't afford school without some kind of Graduate assistant position. I know I could get offered funding if my admissions offers ever arrive, but the odds aren't the best. Please let me know what I should do to find a graduate assistant position of any kind? I have been applying for what I see on schools websites but there isn't ever much posted it seems~! Please help!
  3. 100Freestyle, I am curious, becuase there is a chance, and a decent one we may end up being classmates (if i get in with funding to EMU, and don't get funding at Michigan State or the U of M, I'll go), what are your research interests? and whats your faviorte area of linguistics?
  4. I really want to go to Michigan State and am praying that i get in, but I have applied to an M.A program. There is a chance that through my program, I could get funded but priority goes to PhD students. Does anyone have any suggestions at all of places to look or ways a masters student could find any assistantship. I am just scared of waiting to long and missing out. Suggestions applicable to any institution if posters aren't familiar with Michigan State are much appreciated! Thanks guys
  5. EMU in a lot of ways wouldn't be the end of the world, to me though, its not as tempting as like lets say Michigan State. Where did you do your undergraduate degree?
  6. 100 Freestyle yes I did, did you? what was your undergrad in? where?? I am so worried about it because Eastern Mich is like my saftey school I have to get in and get funding! lol
  7. What lies ahead! I am applying to masters programs too! I have applied to Linguistics M.A at the University of Minnesota, Michigan State, COlorado, Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and Second Language Aquistionm at the University of Minnesota, and TESL at Manktao state. I Have been accepted at Mankato (Only because I was last year and they defered my acceptance). I see you applied to the University of Minnesota, I just had a huge talk with one of my professors who used to teach there, and he told me that in 20 years he has never sucessfully send an undergrad there. He was nice about it, and I would rather here honestly so I am not too optimistic. I really really want to go to Michigan State and am praying I get in and get funding, has anyone else applied there? Have you heard anything yet? I have had two GA interviews there and I am sooo nervous I want it so badly. My undergrad is in French, Linguistics with a minor in TESL but I only have a 3.4, however have taken every linguistic course possible in both French and English and had impressive sucess with my senior project. Also my application season is Fall 2012, not 2011 I made a mistake does anyone know how to fix it?
