Yikes. Can you give me examples of what made people hate it? Do you think the Columbia name helped you get your dream job more so than NYU? I did my undergrad at NYU and loved it, and I have heard that their clinical program is excellent, but it's difficult to turn down the Columbia name...

Hello, I've been admitted to both Columbia and NYU for their two-year MSW programs. Does anyone have any insight as to which school has a better program? I am interested in Clinical Social Work, and I've heard that NYU has better clinical internship opportunities, but it's hard to turn down Columbia. Any insight is much appreciated!

Thanks for the info. I guess that makes me feel better-ish, but I still feel like that's the same thing as a wait list. Oh well, it's better than a rejection!

I got an email telling me my decision was available in my online application. So I logged into my application, and there was a link to a PDF of the letter.

Hi all, I just heard back from BU today, and the decision letter said: "After reviewing your credentials, we have determined that we are unable to make an admission decision at this time. We therefore have decided to hold your application, which will be reviewed again no later than April 30th. Please note that you may receive notification of your admission status earlier than that date." Has anyone else heard back, or does anyone know about BU's process? I am very confused. Does that mean I am wait listed? Thanks for your help!

Hello, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have a potentially silly question regarding the table lamps in the Loker Reading room of Widener Library here at Harvard. How do I turn those lamps on?!

My boyfriend of 1 year will be in his 3rd year of Law School in NYC this fall, and I will be starting grad school in Boston. We're going to try the long distance relationship and see how things go. I am incredibly excited about going to school, but I am really nervous about the relationship surviving the distance :-(

I have officially accepted an offer of admission so I guess my application process is officially over! I now would like to send something to each of my recommenders to thank them for their help, but I am not sure what. I was thinking of sending flowers or boxes of chocolates.. What do people generally do to thank their recommenders? Thanks for reading!

Does anyone not feel 100% about their final decision?

I am absolutely terrified as well. I have officially accepted an offer from Harvard, and everyone around me is SO excited for me. And I am as well, because, well, it IS Harvard! But I am still upset I was rejected by my top choice, and I am very nervous about moving to a different state and being away from my boyfriend and my friends... But grad school will be an exciting new adventure!! -
So I was rejected from my top choice and was devastated and kind of had a meltdown, but I got in to Harvard and I think I am going to officially accept their offer. It's unbelievably exciting! I never thought I would ever say "I go to Harvard" but I am going to do it! I am absolutely terrified and sad to leave NYC (which is where I have been living for the past 5 years), but I am excited for a new adventure. I have a serious boyfriend here in NY and I am not sure how that's going to work out, and I get so sad thinking about being away from him. We both cried last night thinking about how we're going to be apart... But what is two years, right?? Congrats to everyone and best of luck in your graduate school careers!

Harvard is ranked #2 in my program, and Columbia is #5. Penn is #9 I think.. Columbia wrote back to me regarding my rejection, but they just sent me the same email they most likely send to anyone else who asks about their rejection... Oh well. The Columbia rejection was mainly a disappointment because I currently live in NYC and I have been here for five years and don't want to leave... But the last two programs I am waiting to hear back from are NYU and Forhdam, and I don't think I can justify turning Harvard down for either of the latter schools, even though they are in NYC..

Random question, what does OP stand for? I am new to discussion forum life... Oddly enough, I heard back from Columbia today and to my disappointment I was rejected. It was quite upsetting and confusing seeing as the admission from Harvard got my hopes up for Columbia. But also, I had applied to Columbia two years ago and was much less qualified than I am now, yet I was wait-listed then.. I contacted Columbia regarding my rejection, and as "Andsowego" mentions below, there's merit in knowing why a top choice rejected me. The person I emailed wrote back saying he forwarded my email to the Director of Admissions and that I should hear back directly from him. Hopefully he gives me a legitimate explanation that will help me make sense out of this whole process...

@Sigaba Wow... I am sorry. I really do not mean to seem pompous or thump my chest at anyone. It was a genuinely confusing thing to happen, and I turned to this forum for answers. I understand how miserable this whole process is and I genuinely appreciate people's responses to my question. If anything, I wish Columbia would hurry up so that I can give my responses to Harvard + UPenn so that they can potentially get people off their respective wait lists. I will not be contacting BU, because I can only imagine how busy their Admissions Office is at this time, and I think they have more important things to do than to try to explain to me why they rejected me. Thanks for all your responses, I apologize if I've offended anyone by seeming pompous (it really was not my intention). Case closed.
