  1. I have to hear from all of my six schools. I'm losing faith in the strength of my application and even thinking that I shouldn't have started with this ghastly ordeal to begin with. But I keep on soldiering on, eating massive amounts of junkfood and smoking frantically. Hope it's over soon, whatever the outcome may be.
  2. I wouldn't be so sure about that. So far only one acceptance has been posted, quite odd considering that NYU has a large program.
  3. Seems that NYU has waitlisted someone according to the admissions results. So strange since only one person was accepted so far...
  4. I love this topic! Makes me feel like I'm not the only one who's doubting herself So for my stupidities: -GRE 540V 530Q 4.5AW => not impressive AT ALL -I made some typos in my SoP (noticed it after 3/6 were already submitted) -my native language is Dutch and I was stupid enough to apply to those complit programs that don't have any Dutch courses, I'd prob have been considered as an excellent TA for Dutch =/ -I come from one of the oldest universities in the world but unfortunately, they let everyone in so the first year is extremely hard = very low grades, approx 55% leaves after 1st year. We have a complicated grading system that is not compatible with GPA. $ 1500 well spent I'd say I'd better go on some nice Carribean holiday but hey, I'm a dreamer and I'd love love to add 'Dr' to my name and to teach!
  5. I am supposed to write my thesis too. Should be ready by the end of May but haven't been that productive so far because of the waiting game. I didn't realize that the whole wait would be so mentally draining. My friends (who are not in the same situation, since there's nothing like 'applications' in the Belgian educational system) do not understand that I'm so absorbed by the whole thing. To outsiders it seems really odd and stupid. Which it maybe is but my focus has been a bit blurred lately Anyway, I keep on thinking that we all will be okay in the end and that this experience will help us cope with other things that involve patience in the future!
  6. I saw that post too! It made me smile =) Congratulations!!!
  7. I'm also CompLit applicant! And also playing the endless waiting game =/ I So far I haven't heard back from any universities which causes me to be more & more stressed-out...
  8. I just got the news that BU is reviewing my English application. There was something missing and they asked me to fax it so they could start reviewing. Guess there will be news soon!
  9. I'm a Belgian student and I'm applying for a MA/PhD in Comparative Literature. I have taken the GRE and TOEFL and now I'm wondering if anybody of you knows how graduate schools treat GRE scores of non-native speakers. My scores are: TOEFL iBT 109 GRE V 540/ Q 530/ A 4.5 I do realise that my GRE score is average (according to the ETS statistics, the score is the average for a student pursuing literature grad study) but I can't help but thinking that it would be quite unfair to treat my score the same as that of a native speaker. Any thoughts on this matter?
