  1. Hi folks, Apparently Letter’s did arrive in NL! Just to the wrong address? Curious. CGS Score: 22.?/30 ( rough reportfrom a friend at home) Anthropology/Archaeology Still a master’s student atm. MA SSHRC and some other higher profile international/regional awards. ON contributions page: Published fist author in 2 A rated journals, 1 newer journal, 2 un-peer-reviewed reports, 4 edited volumes, 13conference presentations. 92.5% (4.0) MA 85.3% in each of two BSci s (no GPA given) A variety of professional job experience Also, one of the 5 to 6 of the SSHRC Vaniers that were cut from the budget this year. On a somber note this might ultimately mean that up to 5 or 6 fewer people will get SSHRC CGS/PhDs. Good luck everyone.
  2. Nothing in NL yet either. Looks like we'll be waiting till Monday.
  3. Thanks Interferenceviolet! That was very helpful of you. I'm in Australia atm so it's even harder not being able to check the mail box personally. That will help the folks at home figure out when to wait for the post-person. I'm wait-listed for Vanier (they cut 5-6 awards from the budget this year) and hoping this is an indicator for the application's potential in this competition. It's a shame about you not getting the SSHRC though. I hope you have better luck this year.
  4. Shux. The mail in Newfoundland is pretty hit or miss. Thanks for the info though. I wonder why the Vanier SSHRC insists on electronic notifications, while CGS/PhD SSHRC goes with snail mail.
  5. Thank you both for your input. You’re the next ahead in line. I wish you the best of luck! It’s a shame they cut the last few on the list. The Vanier would have swayed my choice of institution for PhD work. C’est la vie.
  6. Hi all, It’s a bit late to join this conversation now. My SSHRC Vanier application was ranked within the 5 or 6 which were cut. I got a score of 6.7/9. After inquiring, I was told that a wait list does exist. Does anyone know of successful candidates who have declined their Vanier? Or, of other waitlisted candidates who have been offered awards? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
