The wait is beyond terrifying. I've been going crazy since January. I can't believe you go to Wellesley! We're both soon to be Seven Sisters alums. Here's to hoping we both are Fulbrights to Lithuania!
@Sally Maybe it times out after a certain period. I can't edit my post from 11:52am today but I can still edit the 3:02pm. Or it could be that you can't edit any post before the last one.
Double yay! The first for mailing things today not tomorrow. The second for having another Lithuania Fulbright finalist. Where are you affiliated at and what's your project? Me - Vilnius University & the political integration of ethnic minorities
Re Mailboxes: I'm holding down my current address and I've got my teenage sister bribed to check the permanent one. It's worked with other notifications.
So Baltics who wants to call/email Rachel *today* to see if the budget went through? Plus the all important question of if she's mailing our letters off today as hoped?
That's really weird. Usually they do send out all the Full grant notifications together and all the ETA notifications together. If you've already talked to Jermaine about it I would say don't worry. Maybe you can ask him for a more definite date if you haven't talked to him recently?
I think you should call the Program Manager for the Near East/North Africa region ASAP. In the spreadsheet there's an Israel Acceptance from a month ago (3/13/2010). Maybe they sent it to the wrong address or it got lost in the mail? Either way they'll reissue the decision to you.
Saw an amusing tweet today from Georgetown's Office of Fellowships: 'Enterprising Fulbright finalists are using Google Docs to inform one another of when they are notified: http://bit.ly/bot9Zr
I emailed Europe's coordinator today to ask her about all of the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia).
She said:
If we receive the budget confirmation from the State Department when expected, letters will go out for all of the Baltics on Thursday (4/15).
On the spreadsheet Niger, South Africa, Ghana, and Malawi all received their notification. Two of those Accepted received a large envelope, the Alternates a regular business sized envelope.
I think the Competition Statistics were just updated. The number totals are different. Weirdly the years are the same ('09-'10, '09-'10, '10-'11), so I'm not sure. Check and see.
P.S. - They just changed the years! New CSs are up.
Does anyone know of a forum like this for Government Affairs? http://gulc.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats A place where people post their acceptances/rejections alongside their GPAs/GREs and it's charted?
That's great news Sally! Thanks for finding out for the region in general. I've been contemplating getting Rachel some flowers for all she has done for us. She's always been so cordial and helpful when we call her. Even though she's probably getting 10 calls a day asking the same thing.
Congrats! You're the only Fulbright applicant for Russia that I've noticed - if you could put your information on the spreadsheet for next year's applicants that would be great!
Not sure if this helps but I know the Competition Statistics for OUR year (2010-2011 Fulbright) will be online in early April.
