I've applied there. Decisions should be soon right? They had one of the earliest deadlines. I'm not ready either!

I find the concept of a "safety school" strange. There's not even one school that I applied to that I'm sure I will get into. The process is way too competitive and class sizes are really small.

Haha. Yeah. In an ideal world. Sigh.

10? Wow. I did not expect such a small class. I asked the job question because I'd like to have something to fall back on in case I have to deal with rejections across the board in the future.

Yeah, I don't want to go to a second-rate program and if the MAPSS makes me a stronger candidate, I'd jump at it if they make me an offer. I hope so too but I honestly, have zero expectations. And thanks. If I do get MAPSS (I really really hope I do), I will bug you with some questions. =)

I'm hoping to at least get the MAPSS because I don't really expect to get into any of the PhD programs I applied to and like you said, I feel like it would make me better suited/prepared for future cycles.

Oh. Thanks for the info. Someone just posted a UWashington reject on the results board. Does that mean they're sending out all decisions today? I just checked my mail. I have nothing.

With regard to MAPSS and CIR at Chicago, do they only tell you when they send you the official rejection for the PhD, like it's sort of a consolation?

Wow. Thanks for all the information. A couple of questions. How big is the incoming class for the program? The LSE site only has combined stats for the IR and IR research programs. And second, if people don't continue to PhD programs, what do they go on to do? What kind of jobs do they get?

Hello all, I just wanted to know more about the IR (Research) course at LSE. Has anyone gone there? Or applied there? I just got in a few days ago and I'm quite happy especially cause I don't have high expectations regarding the schools I applied to for PhD programs. Any information would be helpful. Thanks! =)

I'm quite upset too. Ugh. It's nice knowing someone else from Asia on here. The messed up timezones are ruining my days. I'm awake at night to obsessively check my mail.

I haven't heard from them either. =( Does anyone know if they send out rejections on the same day as well? What about those they offer MAPSS/CIR to? Also, living in Asia means I'm literally gonna have sleepless nights now.

I'm not sure I did that though. I suppose I will know soon enough. Sigh.

Yup, I get that. My interests are still evolving, for sure. This cycle (what I assume will be mostly rejections) has made me aware of a lot of things - my inadequacy in terms of math/stats, the fact that I'm applying from a different field etc. but also that this is the field I want to work in. So yeah, I'm hoping to at least get into a Masters program (LSE/Oxford, I'm talking to you) so I can strengthen my profile and then reapply when I can.

Oh wow. That's nice to hear. I had a lot of professors here tell me that I was making a mistake and should wait a few years. That said, I still don't have my hopes up.

Has anyone else applied straight out of undergrad?
