  1. ANOTHER Stanford, at not even 7.30am their time and via phone....
  2. Well Stanford is already overdue, so I wouldn't dismiss it as trolling just yet
  3. Why, did you ask them not to refer you to the MA? I checked the box not to be referred, already have an MA so not sure why they'd suggest, or I'd desire, another!
  4. Sorry to all the Michigan rejections, very competitive programme I'm in the same boat as those wemayet, not feeling too great with no acceptances. Have to keep up the morale though. Just. Need. One.
  5. Stanford should make a move I think. Hopefully a couple more MIT. Should be a busy week, with a few more coming into the mix.
  6. LOL It happens to the best of us. UCSD and Berkeley are two seriously good programmes, should be fun choosing between them (and with more notifications to come).
  7. Congrats on UCSD guys, was a long time coming Edit: nice to see someone get in with a 154 quant score, gives some others hope for great programmes.
  8. *wild MIT postal service appeared* I'm sure they don't bother with this for internationals, and email in most cases?
  9. More Michigan rejections rolling in, expect some more to follow.
  10. When you're a leading IR scholar have it framed on your wall as motivation
  11. Sorry for the Michigan people, a lot of rejects coming in now.
  12. Sorry for the UCLA rejections guys, getting quite numerous now.
  13. Hey guys, also part of the UCSD bloodbath and no word (ie. most likely rejection) from Chicago. I also got that message from UCSD about the MPIA, which seems very policy orientated, with most graduates going on to work outside of academia. I'm unsure as to why they'd suggest such a masters, and if it's a generic message every rejected applicant receives?
  14. Psych, Irish person here and I've had family at Trinity at UG and Postgrad, though in different fields. My knowledge would be general, so may be of limited use to you. For what it's worth, Trinity isn't hard to get into at UG, and less competitive than say US top 25-30 for masters. PhD is always a special case, as so many other factors come into the mix, especially fit and the presence of a willing superviser. I considered Trinity for my PhD. I emailed the Dept. head in my field and he gave me some useful info, though it took some time to get a reply. I would think at Irish uni's emailing the Dept. or a POI is quite important. Irish departments are very small compared to some in the US, so a suitable willing superviser is vital. If it doesn't work out this time, I'd consider that (if you haven't already). Generally speaking, if your credentials are decent, you've good LORs and there's a good POI for you, you have every chance of admission. Less of a crapshoot than the US appears to be.
  15. It seems ridiculous to be honest. I could understand if they were worried about yield and wanted you to make your mind up quickly on a generous offer, but no funding and 3 weeks, pfft, seems very unreasonable to me.
  16. Quite a few OSU casualties today Could be a busy day or two now.
  17. Yeah, my schools are pretty late to notify as well. Congrats MarketMan, delighted for you.
  18. Thanks for that, it did seem an inordinate amount of time.
