  1. I'm almost certainly going to be attending an unfunded program at Seton Hall. Tuition is actually fairly inexpensive, but it's still more than I can afford and still graduate in any reasonable amount of time. Does anybody have any ideas on getting this paid for besides student loans?

    It's a 36 credit program that's about $600 or so a credit at half-rate tuition, which I'll be receiving.

  2. I'll be honest. I think O'Malley has a good shot at winning because, in my opinion, he possesses the essential qualities needed, and any conclave seriously considering the Church would have to give him a real solid look. That said, there are *other* cardinals with equal virtues who would do very well in the position, and while I believe O'Malley would be excellent, I can't say he's the only one who would be.

My great hope is that it's not an Italian.

  3. I did my getting upset last week. And I already have an acceptance in the bag, so no matter what, I'm 1) staying in New York and 2) going to graduate school this fall.

Now I just need to hear from Fordham so I can start figuring out financing. Regardless of whether they accept or reject me, everything's gonna be gravy at this point. I had really hung my hat too strongly on BC, and now that I've moved on, or am moving on, it's just gonna be a matter of finalizing plans.

  4. I'm trying to figure out how to stagger my language courses so I can max it out at minimum cost. At minimum I need German, because my fiancee and I have plans to relocate there and it's a pretty useful language in theology, but I'd also like to get French (because I reaalllly want to study Congar and de Lubac) and I'd really like to get my Italian back up to snuff after four years of disuse.

Any ideas? I figure it'd probably be best to skip French entirely and focus on German and Italian.

  5. I got off the phone with the admissions department at BC, and acceptances are being sent alphabetically and they're still going out. Notifications will come regardless of acceptance or rejection, so the fact that I haven't gotten anything means nothing except that, with a last name starting with V, am at the back of the alphabet.

As the saying goes, Poland is not yet lost.
