  2. I think that's a reasonable jump. Something that I myself would have done.
  3. Great suggestion above. If it won't add quality to your application then it's not necessary. However, if you think it may bring value and depth to your total application then it may be worth the addition. I personally wrote the optional statement. ((shrugs))
  4. Hi Disillusioned: You ask a very valid question. I based my applications on a number of different factors. Short answer to your question is that the desired schools were chosen based on their overall program and whether or not they had specializations in the areas I'm interested in. The problem with this specific school is that they don't have faculty decriptions on the website (it's under construction). I guess in all I'm trying to get away from actually reading a number of scholarly papers.
  5. Quick questions folks: For one of my schools, they don't have a list of faculty on the website and I'm not familiar with ANY of them. How do I elegantly leave this portion out of my SOP while still relaying my interest in their program?

  7. Howdy all... So, the situation is this. I'm already planning on retaking the GRE as my previous score was just horrendous. When I mean ridicuilous, I'm talking not even meeting minimums for ANY programs. 150V, 143Q... Haven't received the analytical score as yet. My question to you is this. Is there any chance I would still be admitted to Ph.D programs at this point based on the other portions of my application. Masters in CJ completed 2012 with 3.5 gpa and previous CJ work experience. In all honesty, I'd rather never take the GRE again ever. I hate standardized tests, but I know its inevitable with these scores. I'm just wondering if I'd ever have a shot.
