  1. It's amazing how closely my sentiments are echoed in these comments. Indeed, I know what it feels like to be the first in your family to attend college; to be driven and molded from childhood to higher education; and to be comfortable with school and aware of that area as the place you excel. Coincidentally, today was the day I received my first rejection. It really is a hard pill to swallow. However, I ask you to be sober and maintain your optimism. There's no rhyme or rhythm to the acceptance process. You are, however, worthy of admission and will be accepted to the school suited for you. Sending good vibes in the universe for all in our situation.
  2. In an attempt to soothe my anxiousness, I've been on a reggae vibe. On rotate, Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.
  3. After I made that post I got my first response, and it was a rejection. So, I understand. Its already frustrating to wait, but even more so when you've heard disappointing news to start.

  9. I'm not sociology either, however, it is good to know that they are getting the ball moving all around. Thanks and good luck to you as well. Hope the interview went well!

  11. Received an email similar to this a few weeks back. Thought it may be a good sign. WRONG! Received my rejection today. Still throwing good vibes out into the universe! Someone's getting an acceptance today! Yes, on SUNDAY! lol
  12. Totally agree with these sentiments. Wider net, bigger catch.
  13. Have you heard from the professor as yet? Oftentimes, the POI are quite busy and it wouldn't be wise to present yourself as aggressive when it's someone you may be eager to speak with. Give the professor a few more days, then send a followup email. Make that email more of a followup, rather than a "why haven't I heard from you" email. Basically, write the email as if you had actually heard back from him/her and wanted to know which date and time was more suitable. You could even present a date/time that you are available (obviously not in the next few days) and ask them if they may be available. Hope that helps. Let us know how it goes.
  14. You're definitely not the only one. My earliest deadline was December 1st and my latest was February 15th. I had my last application completed by the end of January and have not heard a thing from any of my schools including the earliest deadline location. This is beyond frustrating! I'm not sure what I'll do in the meantime... go bald maybe?!!

  20. I was out of town last week when this information was dropped. But I'm glad I'm reading back. Thanks so much. Great suggestions and unique insight!
  21. That's very big of you! I'm glad that you're staying encouraged and even more than that, you're being a shoulder for others. I haven't heard a yay or nay from any school I applied to as yet, so I'm remaining optimistic for now. Thanks again. Sorry to hear about your loss. Be encouraged and take the time you need.

  23. I'm sorry to hear about your tough times this round. I understand how frustrating that can be. I wouldn't suggest you sacrifice your dreams and become complacent. If you don't get a favorable answer that suits your needs I would suggest contacting the departments and inquiring about their decision. Hopefully, they can provide some advice and direction.
  24. Waiting may be the death of me!
  25. That's awesome. Congrats!
