Yes, and yet, I have no idea why. I know that the probability of receiving any kind of notification is statistically insignificant. Wait, I guess I do know why: I am incredibly bored and neurotic.

I am paradoxically accepting and rejecting this notion (i.e., not getting in anywhere). Since I am in a state of internal conflict, I just can't bring myself to think about the consequences . . . .

I truly have no idea. I got the sense that it would be by the end of next week, but that is my own take on it; I don't know for sure, and it could very well be longer than that. Sorry I can't help more, I just don't know. If I find out any more, I'll post here. Your are not alone. Chicago is a great program and extremely competitive. Good luck.

It means that he/she had spoken with someone in the department and emailed him/her to find out their status. The professorial contact informed the individual that she/he was rejected.

Someone posted a reject to Duke via the website. I checked my website and saw nothing. Can anyone verify this? I would think that if rejects are going out, admits have already been sent out.

One thing I worry about is my personal statement lacking enough substance about my research interests. I have some good news already, so I know it isn't total crap, but I think I could have been clearer about my research interests. Damn you, hindsight!

By the way, I know everyone must be feeling this to some degree, but I am extremely tired of waiting. Every day I wake up with the hope of hearing something, and, when it doesn't happen, my soul is crushed. I'd like to hear from everyone on the same day, then I could just get it over with. One school, in particular, has historically admitted people next week, but I keep thinking that I may hear this week (good or bad, of course)--In my heart I know I am deluding myself.

Ok. I didn't mean to insinuate your application was not "PhD-caliber," just to clear things up. Congratulations on your acceptance! Also, who was the Upenn reject?

To the Wisconsin admit: who are you(Stats); what was the date of the letter; and did your status change on the website?

I know someone who is applying to UMinn and has not heard yet. Do you think that means reject? This person had great numbers and an advanced degree.
