  1. Hahaha... Mail just ran. And I got nada. DARN!
  2. I'm waiting around for USPS. Anyone else check their snail mail yet?
  3. I don't think programs typically send out rejections by email. Wish they did more often. Wouldn't bother me any...and they'd save a tree and a stamp. Hoping for some news today. *good vibes for all!*
  4. There's 3! LOL!!! Ohio State University Oklahoma State University Oregon State University They all have HDFS.
  5. I'm more interested in policy, program development, and evaluation. I'm not sure I have enough self-confidence for teaching.
  6. Hmm... I wonder how much the rankings play into what people consider prestigious. AFAIK... I haven't seen any rankings for HDFS programs.
  7. I'm curious where you heard this info! I would imagine the difficulty in finding jobs would depend on what your objective is.
  8. Awesome! It's such a beautiful campus.
  9. You go!!! Were you by chance considering Oregon State?
  10. Congrats!! I contacted WUSTL not too long ago and I was told that they were expecting all of their early decision notifications to be made by Feb 15th. I applied by the Dec early decision deadline, although I did not receive communication from the program about my application being complete until Jan 4. *fingers crossed*
  11. *faint* I guess until then....no news is good news!
  12. Nothing yet! Maybe they needed extra time for deliberations. *fingers crossed for everyone today!*
  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The wait is killing me. How's everyone else doing?
  14. 1. You get into any other schools yet? 2. I think it would be smart to reconsider the PhD. 3. Haven't you heard of "piled higher and deeper?" 4. You're crazy. (Generally from people who don't plan to go past their AS or BS for whatever reason.) 5. Why didn't you apply to XX (insert school name here)?
  15. I so appreciate this thread. I think imposter syndrome is totally normal. It's really difficult not to compare ourselves to others, isn't it? I just turned 30 and I'm graduating with my two BS degrees in June.
  16. I'm thinking it might be both email and letter. I wasn't feeling so confident after a friend of mine told me she was admitted to her program of choice at OSU two weeks ago. She received an email from the director of the program. I've been trying to get a feel for general dates and methods of notification through the results section of this site, but I think that's just crazy-making. When I visited OSU in October, I was told that they had so many people moving onto the PhD that they only offer the PhD program now.
  17. That's so smart! I'm beginning to wonder if I should have done the same thing. The biggest challenge I've had so far is my LOR's. One of my professors is on sabbatical and another abruptly left academia last summer and I haven't been able to get a hold of her. It has definitely been a stressful process! LOL. Admittedly, I applied with little research experience. I did the McNair program at my university, so the only meaningful research I have was via the summer research internship. I am hoping that + my research method courses will make up for my lack of experience. Who were your POI's for the program?
  18. How neat! Would be so cool if we ended up at the same place. I did want to let you know that I called OSU and found out that letters will go out by the end of the month. *fingers crossed for everyone* Are any of you applying directly out of undergrad?
  19. I applied to the HDFS program at Ohio State and have been logging in almost daily to check on my status - lol. Sorry to hear about your rejection
  20. I'm a bundle of nerves, too! I should hear within a week or so regarding an interview at Vanderbilt and a friend of mine was accepted to her program of interest at Ohio State, so I should be hearing something SOON!
