Inquiring about Waitlist Status

Is it appropriate to send an email to a program where I am waitlisted, letting them know that I have received an offer from another program and inquiring about any updates or movement in my application status? If so, any guidelines for how to do this appropriately (like, is it okay to say what program I was accepted to? Is it okay to mentioned that I need to make a decision in the next few weeks?).

Yes it is okay to just call them and ask! None of these questions are unexpected. If you really like this program then tell them that you have to make a decision by (month/date) and that you would reject the other school if you are given the offer.  best of luck
