Hello! I am planning on attending school in New Jersey because of in-state tuition, but my dream is to live and work in NYC. I know that New York and New Jersey have different requirements for licensure. I wanted to know if it's possible to get my graduate degree in one state and then do my Clinical Fellowship Year in another state. If I'm not able to do my Clinical Fellowship Year in another state, how hard is it to get licensure in another state, specifically New York? I haven't been able to find much information online. If anyone has any information on this, it would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have an answer for you... but if you have Facebook, there is a great facebook group called Speech Pathologists at Large. Many people post questions like this on there! They might be able to help if no one can answer you on here :)

My understanding is that you can do your CFY in any state. But I heard it is troublesome to get the TSSLD license if your grad program is not in New York.

Agree with above post. Generally CFY isn’t connected to your grad school state but some states are very particular with school licensure and NY is one. Look on Facebook or reddit for SLP related threads or groups.

I think this varies by school.  I live in NY and most of the schools I interviewed at in a different state said that they will work with you to obtain the proper license requirements.  It's my understanding that it's more difficult if you're planning on working in a school.  However, I was under the impression that NJ and NY have reciprocity agreements for situations like this?
