coffeeandtoast
I don't think there is another topic like this one and, if there is, I apologize. I haven't been around here for a while. I'm waitlisted at Notre Dame and I'm not declining any other school, because I have not been accepted anywhere else! Good luck and congratulations to everybody! I am in the same boat as you coffeeandtoast. I am waitlisted by the University of British Columbia and have no one to decline as I was not accepted anywhere. maximus82
I was on two waits lists last year. I really hope you guys get accepted to your programs. Having been there, I know it isn't pretty. Best of luck.
nutmeg
I've been waitlisted at Brown and rejected everywhere else. Not really expecting to hear back anytime soon, though I did hear that the list at Brown is six people long. One thing about the WL: If you were to get in last-minute, would you really have the necessary information to make a quick decision? Not going to the admit day really puts waitlisters at a disadvantage come April. You might think you want to go, but it's hard to know without some time at the new school and in the new town. What do the rest of you WListers think? Will you visit on your own dime? Will you definitely go if you get in?
coffeeandtoast
My husband already goes to ND, so my decision will be very easy if I get in. Something came up in the past couple of months, kind of a plan B for me, so if I don't get accepted, I'll be just as happy. I'll probably just apply to ND next year again and make my application stronger. One thing I learned from my husband's admission cycle was that if you're waitlisted, your acceptance may come at noon on April 15 and they want an answer by 3:00 pm. That's what happened with us with ND last year, so definitely having a decision in your mind helps!!

ylime610
So now that we are on the wait-list, what do we do? Does it help to contact the department/admissions committee to make a case why this school is such a priority for you? Or does that just annoy them? Any tips?! socnerd
I'm on the waitlist for Delaware and it's my first choice so I really hope some other people decline the offer. I know probably very few people on here applied there because it is such a low-ranked program but I would be so happy if I got in. I have other offers but this would make my life so much easier so I am going to wait it out as long as I can. I've wondered too about whether to contact them often but I imagine that they already have a ranked waiting list and annoying them isn't going to change my number on the list. I contacted the school I am waitlisted on two weeks ago and told them they were my number one choice and have yet to hear anything from them. Now I am paranoid to contact them again, fearing that I already annoyed them once before. However, my guess would be that I could be moved up on the waitlist by contacting them. I would think an admissions committee would be more interested in someone who has already selected their school as the one they want to go to over someone who is comparing offers from multiple schools (with moderate interest). But then again, I am not on a ad committee, so I could be wrong.
Early
I'm wait listed at Emory. I did get in to a couple other places, unfortunately I've already decided that I would rather not go to them so I've declined (either due to poor fit or lack of funding). If I don't get in Emory I'd better be content in waiting and reapplying.
