Does undergrad GPA gets factored in MSW program GPA?

I will be applying to MSW programs soon in NYC. Does anyone know if your undergrad GPA gets factored into your graduate program GPA. For example, do they take your undergrad social work classes and factor it into your new GPA in the program or your overall GPA?

Your undergraduate GPA will not affect your graduate GPA. They are separate.

Thank you. However if this is the case then why do most graduate programs require a 3.0 GPA or above?

Undergrad GPA and classes are considered as part of your application to demonstrate you have the academic skills to accomplish the school work required to complete an MSW degree. They do not take your undergraduate classes or grades and factor them into the MSW degree program. You might receive unit credit for some of the classes, but not grade points, so your GPA starts at 0.00. Most grad programs require a 3.0 undergrad GPA because it demonstrates your ability to as a student, it's evidence that they should give you a seat because you have what it takes to finish their program theoretically. Many programs require you maintain a 3.0 GPA while you are in the program or a B average, some require you earn at least a B in each class. This may have to do with the fact that this degree is used to practice with human beings in the field, it can lead to a clinical career and licensure and you need to demonstrate that you actually understand what you are learning and can apply it, and I guess a way of showing that is that you earn at least a B in the class. Does that make sense?
