joro Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I guess it really is April for me. I just got another rejection. I'm sad, but at least I know this whole waiting is coming to a close and I'll be able to decide on a school.
lambchop Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Still waiting for 2 schools as well... Cheer up every one. You are not alone
jeanne Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I was under the impression that "Referred" meant the university had decided that you met the minimum requirements for the school and they referred you to your department. Then the department decides if they want you. Like Caffeinated I have also been referred by a couple schools for a while now and I haven't been admitted to them yet. Though maybe different schools have different definitions of "Referred". But either way I imagine it's a good sign. I always thought it was the other way around...the academic department chooses who they want to accept, then send it to the grad school to make sure they met the minimum requirements. At least that's how it's worked where I've applied. (Note that in this case referred generally does mean accepted since departments aren't going to refer students who don't meet the general requirements.)
jeanne Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 The wait is over for me. I got accepted to my top choice school but with no funding for the first year. At least my #2 school pulled through!
joro Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 My first choice said they're finalizing decisions today and posting it up on the website tomorrow. I'm rather nervous about it...

caramel_geek Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 All these waiting got me thinking last night. When it's already so late into the "waiting-season" (it's already April 6th), and they're still not getting back to you, it could only mean bad news right? Then I threw a tantrum (more like a mental tantrum), made myself a cup of jasmine green tea, watch some Criminal Minds and went to bed. This morning, I felt like I'm having a hang over and like I barely slept at all. Came in to work, half expecting 3 rejection emails waiting for me. But there was none. And the wait goes on... Sorry for the rant. Just have to vent.

joro Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Just another hour until it is Wednesday for their time and I just noticed I was accepted to another school.
rooster34 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Just another hour until it is Wednesday for their time and I just noticed I was accepted to another school. Any (good) news, joro?
joro Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Any (good) news, joro? I wish I could say yes, but the application status site hasn't been updated. I know they have staff meetings between 12 - 1pm so I might wait till then. I'm thinking that they'll have a big button on the desk to press to release all decisions. I'll probably email them around 2pm if I don't hear anything.
EarsToHear Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 (edited)
I'm just now learning that it takes grad schools forever to respond back to MS applicants.

I want to call the department and give them a lesson on good manners. I know they aren't intentionally being rude, but I can't help feeling slighted when they tell me that I may hear a decision by April 15, but that they could not guarantee it! Deep, calming breaths people. Edited April 7, 2010 by EarsToHear
SublimeDelusions Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Well, I've been waiting to hear back since Dec. 1 and still have no idea what's going on at 5 of the 6 schools I applied to. With it being late in the game, I'm trying to keep myself positive, but I can't say for certain if that's a good idea or not.
Manson Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I still have to hear from 6 places. Some of them have already intimated other students about their acceptance. What do i do?! :-S
joro Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) I just need to know whether I got into this one school then I'll have my decision. Edited April 10, 2010 by joro
kobie Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I am still waiting to hear from 6 schools. I finished sending all my application and the required documents by mid December and kicked off the waiting period since then. So far no good news yet. Really tired of the endless wait at this point into the game now. So sick of checking email to the drop dead silence that I decided to take a break from it until next week. Till then if I still haven't got any news, I will contact the schools to ask about the fate of my applications. I just want all of this wait to end soon.
