emailing the POI

Is it okay to email our POI and ask if they have any update on our application? (No idea if I been rejected or waitlisted)

@StressedOutUser If you have had an interview with them. If you did not have an interview with them they might not email you back....

As @ray92 has rightly pointed out that if the POI did interview you then you can ask him about the status of your application. However, if you have not contacted the POI then also you can email him but instead of coming straight to the point, you should introduce yourself first, expand on your interests, let him know that you have submitted the application and you are looking forward to working with him.

My POI interviewed me about 3 weeks ago, I sent her an email a week ago and asked her about my status but she didn't respond. I think this means I'm going to get rejected, right?

@Reys Not necessarily the email could have been lost in the sea of emails

@ray92 Thanks, but today I got the rejection letter, so sad. I taught the interview went well, but I was wrong.
