For those who have been waitlisted, are you sending a follow up email expressing your interest in the school? Do you think following up would increase your chances of getting in to the school or would it not make a difference?

I don't know if it would make a difference. Some schools may have a ranked waitlist, so at that point, I'd assume your "rank" would be as is. What were you planning on saying? What may be more productive is asking feedback about your application - not sure if that is something the admissions committees can feasibly do. Just my thoughts!

My roommate in college was waitlisted at our university. I believe she followed up multiple times after April 15th, expressing her interest. She finally got in a few weeks after graduation! I would say wait until April 15th, and follow up after.

You can certainly update your resume with them if you had more experiences after you had applied. There is also something called a “statement of continued interest” that you can submit to the admission committee or email to one of the professors in the committee. Here is how to: https://www.google.com/amp/s/blog.collegevine.com/deferred-or-waitlisted-tips-for-writing-a-letter-of-continued-interest/amp/

Most are ranked. But you can call and ask for you placement and keep expressing your interest I think that actually helps in the long run. I found out yesterday I was waitlisted at my top choice and they said I was at the top of the list but not knowing my spot exactly I am just going to call every week. lol

I know this reply is sort of late, but I sent a follow up email to my dream school and I just reiterated how much I wanted to attend the school, why I think I would be a good fit, and why the school is a good fit for me. I also mentioned a few updates on things I’ve accomplished since applying. The admissions committee seemed really receptive and said that knowing I was still interested is helpful in terms of managing the waitlist. Overall, I don’t think it could only help to follow up, schools love knowing you’re still excited about their program! Best of luck :)
