ashleyv
Any word on the Ontario Graduate Scholarship for this/upcoming year?? I believe the results get posted on the website on (or around) April 14th.
Phalène
I'm expecting the results to be out sometime around the 18th - they typically seem to come out a few days late.
ajesusj
Last year they were posted at midnight on the 18th. The OGS website currently says (on or around) April 14th. 8-12 days to go.
sshrchopeful
last year I checked at 12am on the 15th, and it was posted. So, I think OGS is usually right on time.
thepoorstockinger
last year I checked at 12am on the 15th, and it was posted. So, I think OGS is usually right on time. I didn't have my status updated until at least the 18th last year, so there is a good chance that updates don't happen all at once.
ajesusj
Does anyone know how many Doctoral OGS grants are awarded? On the website they say that 2000 OGS are awarded each year. Also, I would be interested to know how many Doctoral students are enrolled in year 1 or 2 in Ontario each year.
sshrchopeful
I'm not sure, but I remember hearing that, unlike SSHRC, your chances of getting OGS sit around 1 in 3. Much better odds than for SSHRC.
Phalène
^^ once you make it to the A level for SSHRC, your chances are about 50-50. If you're an A level Master's student, your chances are about 90%.
UoGstudent
My 2008 letter was dated April 18th (university application). My 2007 letter was dated April 5th (direct application).
wlugrad
does the graduate office know before we do? (like nserc results)
thepoorstockinger
does the graduate office know before we do? (like nserc results) My experience was that the institution I had already accepted an offer from first heard that I got an OGS when I told them. (I applied from outside of Ontario if that matters at all)
Phalène
Even though I know results won't be out for a few more days, I'm starting to get twitchy. Anyone else?
ajesusj
Even though I know results won't be out for a few more days, I'm starting to get twitchy. Anyone else? We could very well hear by tomorrow. I think I would be less twitchy if I knew how many doctoral students won last year. SSHRC results are online so at least you can feel it out a bit. With OGS, I have no idea. Epi_Girl
I'm on the reversion list for 2010 too. SIGH, not great news, but better than a flat out NO... but MORE waiting....when do folks usually find out about their other scholarships so that they can say no to OGS and 'free up spots'? And if I remember correctly, I think I remember someone saying you can call the number (Gerry?) they provide and see where you are on the reversion list for your discipline? Hope everyone else gets happy results!
