JordSLP2Be
So, I decided to take a gap year after graduation in May and now it's time to apply for the Fall 2020 cycle. I have huge anxiety about asking my professors for LOR after being graduated for a while especially knowing the type of curriculum and schedules they keep. Any advice on how to approach my previous professors? Should I ask the same professors that I agreed during the last application cycle? Also, I've been hearing about applicants from other fields using wixsite as a supplement for their resume's and CV's; has anybody done it or heard about it for SLP? Thanks! LaceySpeechie
If you already asked people and they said yes, then yes, ask them again! (But do it ASAP, it's getting quite late to just now be asking for Fall 2020.) I took a two year gap and used two CSD professors I'd already asked before leaving school, and one out-of-major professor who I'd had a good relationship with but basically just emailed out of the blue to ask for a LOR. Nbd, the worst they can say is no! And I'm sure they're all used to it, it's part of their job.
slptobe!
I took a gap year and then asked my LOR's, it's usually not an issue as long as you do it to give them enough time. I asked mine in October, best of luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
MadisonMachelle
I took a gap year and when I asked each recommender for a recommendation I politely asked them in an email, included the course that I took with them, the grade that I got, and any identifying information that would help them put a face to a name. Hell! Even put a small photo of yourself if you think that would help. It will also make for a MUCH better letter of rec if you do the brute work and put together a folder including your resume/CV, your transcripts, and any projects that you worked on/research. I hope that helps! slptobe!
