Is anyone else terrified for rejections?

I literally just need one PhD acceptance and I'll be okay. Right now I am a mess and very nervous as I only had the chance to apply to three schools and possibly four. The reason why is because when I was going to apply for my last two schools my wife received a cancer diagnosis and there went all of my focus and energy. Just wondering if I am in this alone or if some of you have schools you REALLY want and are nervous will reject you?

I feel your pain. I think I am more so terrified of choosing the wrong school (trying to stay optimistic). I don't want to have a repeat of my undergraduate years. My undergrad institution was a party school, 2 hours from any city life, and very conservative. I spent my last year alone, always in my apartment and it negatively impacted my grades. I had no confidant, basically no close friends and no lab mates to study with (they were very cliquey). 
I am IN LOVE with one of the schools I applied to. I visited 3 times.  If i get rejected from that one institution, I am scared the other potential 3 may not be the best fit for me and I'll just find myself sad and isolated again...for 5 years!

I am so sorry to hear that! I hope you and your wife will be okay. 

I don't feel super nervous, but I check the grad cafe 100 times a day.

Yesterday I got my first rejection, which is expected. But it got me worried.

My best advice would be not to get too emotionally attached one one particular university you applied to, once you get acceptance then do :)

Absolutely terrified as you. Not only because I only applied to one and only Ph.D. program, but because its crucial for my marriage. Hope to hear about the decision this week!
