SuzytheExplorer Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 If you're not getting a response/ reply-back from the potential PI, are you still going to apply for that program? I'm not sure whether they're just busy, uncertain, not taking any students, or simply have no interest in my application. Are there anyone who has an experience when you didn't got a response but still got accepted?
0 PsyDuck90 Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Not every professor replies. Some make it a rule. Others just miss the email. I would still apply.
0 Sigaba Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Hi, @SuzytheExplorer If you have the opportunity to dig, you will find many threads that discuss non responses from potential PIs. Some posts will give reasons why a professor may not reply. Others will indicate that one should not be deterred by not receiving a reply.
0 drunkenduck Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 This isn't saying anything new, but there are lots of potential reasons for not replying, some good, some bad, some neutral. I would still apply, but I would make sure to list multiple professors I would like to work with. You can also follow-up closer to the application due date. Personally, I just received a reply from a POI a full month after initially emailing them.
