Same. I got the acceptance email.

Would you mind sharing your subfield? I would like to know if applicants whose subfield is not computer science (I mean electrical engineering such as circuitry) got an acceptance mail too..

Congrats! Did you have any interviews? Also, do you mind telling the initials of the PI? I have applied in the same field, and am waiting to hear back.

No interview and not sure which PI since 2 which I included on my app were both cc'd on the email

I think the EECS admission committee has chosen most of the applicants from CS subfields. The trend of acceptance seems no EE subfields has accepted to the program based on gradcafe.

I honestly think they should split their graduate program unless they actually want to use EE applicants application fee as their cash cow..

No more acceptance most likely will happen even though the 'calendar' says there is a meeting since they never had sent more than one batch. Plus, some of the professors said they are done with reviewing application.

Almost all the investment went to CS subfield since, as you might know, MIT CS is infamous for its research quality. (at least industry people know well about it) Needless to say about corona.. So EE or harware related applicants should move on to other university.

I am a bit disappointed, yet, congratulations to accepted applicants!

Congratulations! I failed to get in last year and I honestly don't know what my profile is so different than others.. I mean I know that something I cannot change but I wonder how the accepted applicant wrote thier SOP.. Would you mind sharing your SOP by any chance?

Echoing @lacros's question -

I see that most admits have already been informed and from an earlier post on this thread, it seems that the admissions final roundup meeting was on 3rd February. Does this imply that those who haven't been informed yet are rejected?

If the final roundup meeting was on 3rd February, then I think the professors / department will take a few days to send out acceptances and update their website. I would suggest not jumping to conclusions immediately and waiting a few more days. Also, most of the posts in the main results list are from CS applicants, and hardly anyone has posted about EE admits. Considering the large number of MIT EE faculty, I find it hard to believe that MIT is hardly taking in any new students for the EE branches. What I think is going on is that MIT is simply taking more time than usual in considering applications, and that seems reasonable given the challenges due to the ongoing pandemic. Probably we can come to a conclusion about the admits by the middle of next week or so.

I hope so.. but they hardly accepted any EE applicants last year too.

Contacted the graduate office and got a reply. To be brief, applications  are still being considered and reviewed and all applicants will be informed of the decision by email before March.

@kkdas088 Thank You. So everyone here who is waiting for a response should wait till March before speculating further. I am confident that many of us here would get in!

  • 3 weeks later...

I have not received any updates, but in the portal it says that you can check for results in early March.

For context, I got an interview in January from 2 professors (they are co-advisors), but the professors have either ignored or missed the emails I sent to follow-up that email, which is disappointing because I thought that interview went really well. They did tell me "feel free to reach out to them for more questions", so hopefully that means they just missed the email.

Also, my primary focus is Circuit Design General Interest.

There are around 5-6 rejections posted for MIT Computer science programs posted on the main Gradcafe results page a few hours ago, but I am not sure of how indicative they are for the entire EECS department results. I have not been contacted by anyone from the department at all this year, which is really surprising, considering MIT posts (or atleast used to) nearly all EECS decisions by the 3rd week of Feb. I am not sure how much longer I should wait before accepting my other admits. If anyone has any other details from the Department or Graduate office, please share.

Hello!

The visit days start on March 4th.

Does that mean that everyone that has not received the answer yet is going to be a negative one?

As they will lose the visit days...

I called the admissions office yesterday and they said the results would be out by the 14th, which if you ask me isn't "early" March.

SigFyg did they mention that they are still considering some candidates?

Thank you for any answer in advance!
