MA_humanrights Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Congrats everyone! I was accepted to the MGA program with a $9k scholarship. Fletcher is my top choice, but I'm struggling with the financial aspect. Does anybody have any advice for the financial aid appeal process? Emrada 1

Emrada Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Anyone on this morning's Fletcher info session? Deans Kyte and Sims Gallagher are rockstars in energy/climate (my field), so it's awesome to hear from them. AR89, academiaenthusiast and EscapingBrexit 2 1

francophile_1 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Fletcher is charming their way into my heart between the funding and the outreach from their students and faculty for sure. AR89 and Emrada 1 1

I'm pretty set on Fletcher at this point. I got in to GWU, American, Georgetown, and SAIS - but none of them have hit the level of Fletcher so far for me, in terms of funding or outreach. I'm increasingly excited about the coming year! Edited March 19, 2021 by EscapingBrexit Emrada, francophile_1 and EC1225 2 1
Emrada Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 They have seriously been so personalized and lovely. I'm a semi-local MA applicant and a homeowner who can't move in the next year, so the only big downside to it is that it's significantly further away than my other local options and would mean a lot of time in the car for me / less time with my family. But I just love everything I've seen from them so far, so it may be worth it. EscapingBrexit and francophile_1 2
itsgoinggrad2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 If you contact the office, there is an official appeal process that they can send you a link to. I haven't heard about federal financial aid yet.
EscapingBrexit Posted March 19, 2021 Author Posted March 19, 2021 Is there a group or something I should be in on Facebook etc? I got offered Work Study in my financial package and I have no idea what that looks like in reality. Any thoughts?

I'm still waiting on the FA info, would you mind sharing how you heard about your FA package? email or portal?

Hi there is a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/fletcheraugust2021admittedstudents/?multi_permalinks=1474539579553958%2C1474211959586720%2C1473930772948172¬if_id=1616018087672784¬if_t=group_activity&ref=notif Also, I received work study as well and I did work study in undergrad so I assume its similar. You'd probably need to seek out a job yourself through a portal or some resource that I am not entirely sure of yet. I got my job in undergrad through a job fair the first week and worked at the same office all four year, so that was easy enough. EscapingBrexit 1

Yes, Fletcher is really good at charming. That has been frequent feedback over the years. A lot of is due to how they have one of the stronger communities among the IR schools. The other is that they have to do charm to make up for their shortcomings. Marketing is powerful, but its important to see behind the marketing. There is always a darker side why things are so. went_away and francophile_1 1 1
