Graduation Timing vs. Application Timing

Hi,

I apologize if this is a silly question, I'm new to the whole grad school application process.

I graduate in December 2021 and would like to start an MSW program in Jan 2022. Obviously the applications are due before I graduate (for the Jan 2022 start) but is there a way this could work where I will be graduating but it isn't official yet (application-wise) or do I need to wait for the following start time of around May 2022?

Don't quote me on this because I'm not fully sure, but I believe it's fine to apply before you officially graduate. Usually, an acceptance would then just be considered contingent upon your graduation and you'll need to show a completed transcript before beginning the program.

When I was in undergrad at UCLA two of my friends were applying to MSW programs our senior year and got into programs by the time we graduated! All they had to do was turn in their final transcripts confirming their overall gpa once they accepted the offer. Which was UCLA again! But they got into UW and Columbia from what I remember and it would have been the same process.
