I am sorry ? I am sending good vibrations for you!

Thanks!

TBH, I spent little to no time adapting my personal statement to the 2-3pg essay. It was somewhat childish and petty of me, but I thought it was a weird "ask" considering every other program just wanted a straightforward SOP.

Leaning towards Cornell/UMich, but still holding out hope for UCI, UCSC, and possibly Rutgers (since I've seen acceptances and rejections, but only silence on my end so far). I'm also pretty sure that Northwestern MTS will reject me.

I'm hoping you all get in to the schools you're waiting on!

umich and Cornell are both great schools!!
I got waitlisted at Rutgers, but they invited me to the open house affirming that the probability of me getting out of the waitlist is pretty high.

Regarding MTS program, I got accepted and I believe they have sent  out all acceptances ? I think I will accept the offer. It Is a pretty good one, and northwestern was my top 2 choice (I don’t know about usc yet)

Ahh, thanks for the heads-up on both Rutgers and NW. If you don't mind sharing, what kind of financial offers are you all getting? Mine have all been 5yrs, 28-33k/yr, 1/2yrs covered by fellowship.

my offers are 50% TA for 21k~23k per acad year (9-month), 4 years (i have relevant MA), summer funding not guaranteed.

28~33k sounds a lot more generous than mine. wondering if it's ok / how to negotiate for a better funding package...

Someone posted this on gradcafe:

Media, Culture And Communication (MCC) , New York University (NYU) - Steinhardt IGNORE WAITLIST. Emailed a professor about update. He forwarded it to the associate director who responded saying that there will be an admission notification in the next few days. Have a feeling there are going to be no interviews this season. Awful sense of dread

Looks like perhaps no one got interview notifs?? wild.

It is I who is annoying every professor on the department asking for updates. If they haven't rejected me already, they might just do it for all the updates I have been requesting

yup, haha. do you know if that's the norm? cost of living (especially housing) is so expensive in california so i am worried about finances. graduate student poverty is real :(

Hi guys!! Just found out this forum.

I also applied for several Com phd programs in the US and I got an offer from Umass Amherst early this month. However, I am still waiting for MCC as NYU is my first choice.

Yeah, the UC's have notoriously bad funding for grad students. As much as I would prefer to be in California, I refuse to go into debt for a PhD and I also don't want to suffer through trying to make ends meet. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about the offers you've received!

Pretty much the same! Northwestern pays more, 35/36k/yr
