UCSD GPS 2022

Has anyone heard any news so far? It is somewhat odd that they haven't released decisions for the early notification applicants before March. Hopefully, we can hear back from them this week?.

As posted in previous years threads this means that you'll get accepted. You can find these in previous year's threads, but who knows. Hopefully it's true.

I just received an email that my application has been nominated for admission! I applied for the MIA program. This is my second acceptance of the day (after months of waiting), so I'm incredibly excited. My research area has to do with the intersection of Chinese culture and politics :)

I just received an email that my application has been nominated for admission. But I have not received an email to apply for the fellowship. Would this mean that I would not get any?

The email was about one specific type of fellowship that had to do with working for the government after graduation. I'm not sure why the opportunity was only sent to some applicants, but I don't think this excludes you from receiving other fellowships or aid of any kind!

Received an email saying I was nominated for admission for the MPP program a couple hours ago (March 6th, 5PM)! No word on funding yet but am relieved to finally have a decision as an early decision applicant. Applied straight out of undergraduate studies (current UC San Diego student) and worked at the same time.

International student, 3.68 Cumulative GPA, 2 years research experience in policy analysis, 1.5 years professional work experience in data analytics, multiple extra-curricular positions, hopefully good SOP and LORs, did not submit GRE. Wishing the very best of luck to applicants who still haven't heard back, you got this! 2a/0r/6p

Why is UCSD your top choice? I am struggling and I am like you with an urge to go to UCSD. But I also got into American and GWU as well, good schools in the DMV. Kind of curious for your take.

Hello! I just got my official acceptance from UCSD for the MIA program and I am struggling on what I should do. My dad wants me to apply to GWU but I probably won't get any funding. However, my career goals are more align with international security (preferably in regards to the Middle East). Is anyone familiar (current or past GPS student) if I could get a job connected to international security (preferably in DC)  if I attend UCSD?  Also, even though I would have to focus on an Asian or Latin American region, are there classes that on the Middle East (or Europe)?

Congrats on your acceptance. As far as my own research UCSD is a solid program for preparing you to work internationally. However It seems more  students end of working in the Asia region. If you decide to do 24 units on a foreign language try Arabic it might give you a good sense of their culture and history. Not to mention if you learn to speak Arabic you would have a 70% chance of working in the Middle East as a U.S. diplomat, foregin officer etc... leaving where you study as a soft factor. Hope someone else can share more insight on other Middle Eastern tailored pograms. Any ways, congratulations! Whatever you end up choosing I'm sure you'll do great ?
