Hi! I just wanted to see if anyone has heard back from MSW program within California? I applied to UCLA, UC Berkeley, SFSU, SJSU, and CSULB. I heard back from SFSU, and SJSU just sent out an email stating their decisions could go out as late as May 31st. I’m checking me mailbox obsessively rn. I hope everyone is holding up well.

Hey! I also applied to CSULB (12/31/2022), CSUN (01/02/2022), and CSU Fullerton (01/12/2022). I haven’t heard back from CSULB or CSUN yet. Fullerton emailed me on 02/25/2022 and requested I schedule an interview. I’m also wondering if anyone has heard back from LB or northridge yet?

i am waiting on uc berkeley, i know that they've released decisions first week of march in the past (only know this from stalking other past grad cafe forums lmao) so potentially we'd get news in the coming week? not quite sure

Fingers crossed it’s this week. The suspense of waiting for that email is crazy.

Hi all, I applied to CSUF, CSULB, and CSUN all around 1/1/2022. I was offered interviews for both CSUN and CSUF for next week, and I'm still waiting to hear back from CSULB. Best of luck to everyone!

I am at CSULB in the BSW program and everyone who applied internally has heard back this week, I think they are now focused on external candidates. Good luck, I did not apply to CSULB MSW program.

Dogmama, good luck on your interviews, can you post your questions here and how your interview went? I applied to CSUN, and am hoping to get an interview, and have no idea what to expect. Fingers crossed!!

Thank you! I will definitely update how they went! Make sure to check your CSUN email address to see if you got an invite too. All they've told me is that there is a group exercise, individual question, and a writing prompt. I'm honestly so nervous for the writing prompt I have no idea what to expect!! CSUN is my top choice tho so I'm hoping it goes well.

I applied to CSULB on the 17th of January and haven't heard back yet. Not sure how much of a chance I have of getting in. I know how competitive they are, and I had my application ready to go early in December, but my professor was really late in turning in my recommendation letter. Anyone heard of people getting in when they applied later in the game? I know chances will probably be slim, but I'd like to think there's some hope for me... ?

I got accepted to UCLA about a week ago. I read somewhere that people were being admitted as early as late February.

I heard that I got into Berkeley about an hour ago. It was an email telling me to log into the application, thereby drawing out the suspense as long as possible!

I applied to A-WELL. I graduated college in 2011 and my stats weren't great (3.23 GPA, non-SS major), but I have over 10 years work experience so I guess that compensated. Also, I am disabled and my experience/interest is in supporting people with disabilities, which may be relevant to Berkeley.

The letter said that info about financial support will be sent separately and didn't say when ?

Hopefully everyone will hear soon!

Hey All!

I applied to CSUMB and SJSU and I have been checking my portals/email every single day. I am so nervous because I only applied to these two schools and am worried that there is a possibility of not getting in! I also do not have a social work education background, I got my bachelor's degree in Justice Studies! I have worked at a Mental Health Office since July of 2020 so I am hoping that my experience as an Admin/Programs assistant will benefit me and my application.

I got an email from SJSU about making decisions up until May 31. I also received from CSUMB they will begin sending out decisions Mid-April! Ugh the suspension is killing me!

Good luck to all!!! ☺️

Hang in there!  It can take time to hear back but I have spoken to people currently in MSW programs who say they didn't receive their acceptance until April or even May so you've got time!!  :)

Hi future MSW's!  I was accepted into CSULA.  I'd love some feedback on their program.  Do you know anyone who attended, their thoughts?  Reasons you applied or didn't apply to CSULA?  I'm struggling!  Thanks in advance!!

This is probably a stupid question, but how did you hear back? Did you get an email?

I haven’t heard anything other than from CSUN for an interview. I applied to CSULA but it’s not my top choice, mostly because of location and I’m interested in a clinical focus. My understanding is that CSULA has less of a clinical focus in their work, but I could be wrong?

Also, I’m really nervous that I haven’t heard anything from any schools. I think it’s normal to hear acceptances by now, no? Anyone in the same boat? I’m trying not to be stressed but I’m nervous since this is a bit of a career change for me. I have social work experience, but it sounds like not quite as much as some other folks.

I’m frustrated because my therapist has been adamant that I am a shoo-in and shouldn’t worry and will be accepted everywhere I apply… she went to school about 10 years ago and came in with no social work experience at all. She had almost 20 years of working as a writer, but that’s it.

That said, does anyone have recommendations on applying for social work jobs?

Hey!  Thanks for your reply.  I understand that stress for sure and have been dealing with quite a bit of anxiety lately.  Yes, CSULA emailed my personal email with an acceptance.  I've only had an interview with CSUN.  I'm waiting to hear back from CSULB, Fullerton, and CSUDH.  Nothing from them. I have heard and recently spoke with a current student at CSUDH who said they didn't find out last year they were admitted until like April or May so you've still got plenty of time to hear back.  I think this month is only the beginning of schools really replying to applicants.

That's good info about CSULA.  Does CSUN have a more clinical focus?  I think CSULB (from my understanding) offers a more clinical focus.  Possibly also CSUF, not sure about Dominguez Hills.  Do you know anyone who attended CSULA or CSUN?

Have you searched for case management jobs ?  I worked case management and found it to be great experience.  Also, look at different city websites and see if they are hiring positions like senior center coordinator/director, or jobs at the county offices.
