EN1988 Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 The deadline for Sept 2023 start was Dec 15. I can't imagine they would be accepting applications after the deadline, especially for such a competitive program. Hang in there, I feel you pain! I'm shocked that it takes them 9 months to decide!!! cmornin and Joyful13 2

It's a total tease, but so exciting for those accepted - it's a huge accomplishment. MSW Candidate 16 1

I applied and received my OUAC receipt on March 1, 2023, and submitted my supplemental documentation in early April 2023. On Thursday, June 1, 2023, Grad Admissions contacted me and asked me to resend my college transcript by the next business day at noon. On June 16, 2023, I received an acceptance email. That's amazing - congratulations! Which entry did you apply for though? I applied for September 2023 and the due date for supplemental documentation was December 15, 2022. Your dates suggest January 2024 entry but those decisions aren't until September! I'm so confused lol EN1988 1
Ci87xo Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Yay Laurier had finally sent out admissions! I got into the part-time online MSW program! WoooSW Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Has anyone admitted to Dal heard anything more about classes, groups etc? I got one package of info shortly after accepting the offer and that was it.

SWRKMSW12 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Has anyone heard from WLU who applied for the MSW Advanced Standing Part Time- Online (with BSW) for fall 2023?
cmornin Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Got my rejection for Laurier part time (non-BSW) this morning. Best of luck to you all! stressball101 1
Joyful13 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Got my rejection this AM at 10:20 EST -> MSW PT, non-BSW For reference; I have a diploma in SSW, BA in psychology + 15,000 combined hours of volunteer and work experience. I have worked for two large-scale employers; Alberta Health, and CMHA, and I am now working as a therapist within a private practice. Best of luck to EVERYONE! My fingers are crossed for you! stressball101, cmornin and MSW Candidate 16 3
MSMSW16 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) Sorry to read this. You have great experience! Just for reference.. I have 27000 hours of direct social work paid experience, 2 BA's one in Soc and another I've just completed in Thanatology at Kings with an 85% average a SSW diploma from 1998 (and I was a RSW in the UK for 12 years) and just received the email that I've only been waitlisted for the Laurier part-time MSW. I feel very disappointed as it's been quite the journey for me to get to this stage (I have very young children also). It's a difficult process and long wait! All the best in the future. kg101 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I got my rejection this morning too (WLU pt online MSW). I have approximately 10 years of experience in a post-secondary advising role. This at least gives me some closure. I was second-guessing whether or not this was the right program for me so now I don't have to make the decision. I recently applied to Yorkville. With the difference in practicum hour requirements (950 practicum hours vs 400) even though the program is more expensive, it will get me the credential I am wanting for the same price if you calculate in the extra hours of working for free required. EN1988 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I hear ya... I got waitlisted for the WLU PT online non-BSW MSW this morning too. I put so much time and hard work into preparing their extensive application, I really hoped it would pay off... so disappointing -- and now we are back in the same waiting game for another 2 months! This is torture... I'm curious how many people are on the waitlist. kg101 and Joyful13 2
JM22 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Just made an account to post... Got waitlisted for the WLU PT-Online, Non-BSW MSW program this morning. Not that it matters I have a college diploma, a B.A., 5+ years of relevant work experience in the field, and prior to working in the field I had plenty of experience volunteering with non for profits and social service agencies. As well, participated in two massive research projects. Yay to getting to wait now until August to see if there's any movement on the waitlist.
MSMSW16 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I would also like to know how many are on the waitlist.
hbear02 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I received my rejection this morning as well. For those who care: I have 20,000+ hours working as an Education Assistance, Therapeutic Riding, and Rehabilitation Therapy in a hospital. I also have volunteer experience working in the local government party and doing ESL support. I have my DSW diploma, Grad certificate in Autism and Behavioural Sciences and a BA in disability studies with a 4.03 GPA. Congrats to those who got in - I will try to build on my application and try again. I only wish we knew sooner so we could have applied to the spring 24 which closed june 1.
MSMSW16 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I was thinking the same thing about the June 1st deadline. I was just so emotionally drained from the application process!
jmcinn97 Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Got my rejection email from WLU this morning around 10:15. Not disappointed and honestly not surprised. I still have a shot at Carleton since I'm on the waitlist there, but if I don't get in, I've made the decision to reapply for fall 2024, and also apply to uCalgary and Dalhousie :D I'm now trying to decide if I should apply to complete a mental health/addictions certificate or a SSW diploma, or take the year off and add to my almost 5K hours of social service experience. Congrats to those who got accepted to the part-time MSW (non BSW) program at WLU, and I'm sorry to those who didn't :( Onwards and upwards, folks!
