Theology: Notre Dame (MTS), Duke Div (MTS), Duke Uni (PhD), Princeton Uni (PhD), Marquette Uni (PhD), Uni. of Virginia (PhD). MAYBE: U.of Chicago Div School, Yale Div, Princeton Sem, or Wycliff College in Uni. of Toronto. Philosophy (Social & Political, Critical Theory, Hermeneutics): Uni. of Chicago, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Uni. of Toronto, McGill, and Uni. of Chicago's "Committee on Social Thought." MAYBE: Loyola. I will have my BA in philosophy in the spring from a reputable school. 3.9 GPA, no GRE yet. I'm already married with two toddlers, so I have to go to a program that is fully funded. Thankfully, I've kept my grades up, so this is a real possibility for me.

Craig11 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Theological Studies PhD/ThD at Emory, Fordham, Harvard, Drew or Vanderbilt 3.91 from undergrad at small midwest state liberal arts school 3.91 from MTS program v - 740; q - 780; aw - 5.0 this is a first go for me. anyone traveling to AAR? tips? anyone have advice on the importance of visiting schools (now or after I hear, if at all)? where are people in the app process? glad to know people are going through the same experience (because my non-academic friends and family keep looking at me and saying "oh, don't worry, you'll get in", and all i can do is politely smile and say "thank you for your confidence")

I'm also applying to an M.Phil program in Social Anthropology in England, and a PhD program in Cultural Anthropology here in the States. Stats: BA in Anthropology and Pre-Medicine: 4.1 and 3.9, respectively. 620V, 780Q, 6.0A I TA'd three classes, and taught two psychology / philosophy of religion classes through my university's honors program as an undergraduate. I'm just applying to 2 - it's now or never (3rd round - I had 2 acceptances but couldn't swing it financially and practically with spouse's job): Indiana University - Religion in the Americas Drew University - Religion and Society ThM GPA - 3.9 MDiv GPA - 3.5 GRE - 610 (v) 650 (q) I have no languages - I had considered doing an online course on German but no time this fall.
