maichang
I am applying to Phd programs in statistics. I have already written about my research interests and other credentials in SOP. But I am having a hard time writing an introductory paragraph. Is it a good idea to start the essay with my name, major and school's name? Or should I talk about my interests right away? Also how detailed should I be while explaining my research experiences.
TMP
The intro should be what it is: An introduction to who you are as a researcher. Don't be a sleeper with "My name is X and I go to school Y and majored in Z." Give them an overview of your interests. rising_star
