Mikeden Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Hi everyone, I am going to be taking the GRE within the next month. I understand that there is a 10 minute break between the AW section and the first quant/verbal section. I was wondering if you need to stay in the test room during the 10 minutes or if needed, you can get up, stretch your legs, use the bathroom, etc? When I get anxious, I tend to get thirsty and need to use the bathroom, so it would be very helpful if I could use the restroom quickly during the 10 minute break (I would bring a bottle of water and keep it with my belongings - I don't have a disability that would allow me to bring water into the test room or request extended breaks). Also, I was wondering how much scratch paper you are given for the test? On another forum, someone said 3-4 pages. I tend to go through a lot of scratch paper, so I was wondering if I can request more if it is needed during the test? Is the paper lined paper or just white paper? Thank you very much for your help!
neuropsych76 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Yes, you can go to the bathroom during your break and drink water or eat during that time. I found it relaxing I think you get 4 pages of scrap paper (2 pages front and back) hope that helps, good luck!! Edited December 14, 2010 by neuropsych76
waddle Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What neuropsych said. Also, yes, your scratch paper can be replenished (I think they gave me a booklet with two leaves of yellow paper ( = 4 sides of letter paper)) if you ask the test proctor.
Strangefox Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Yes, you can go out during the break. It would be cruel not to let people to go to the bathroom! They gave me a booklet of paper with four leaves (8 pages) and it was green or may be blue, not lined.
Mikeden Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Thank you for the responses! If needed, is it possible to go back to my belongings quickly as well to review some last minute notes? Edited December 14, 2010 by Mikeden
neuropsych76 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Thank you for the responses! If needed, is it possible to go back to my belongings quickly as well to review some last minute notes? I believe you can "sign out" at any time during the test if you need to but you will cannot make this time up. I don't think you can check any notes during the test (obviously) but I would review last minute notes before you walk inside the testing center.
