Also saw some people on Grad Cafe reported waitlists. Assuming they'll wait until April 12th to reject those of us they interviewed and didn't follow up with. I went ahead and committed elsewhere. I don't know why they even interviewed me; based on the interview experience they didn't seem interested.
Arthistry Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Just joined this thread late, and unfortunately I was rejected from all PhD programs I applied to and waiting on one last MA art history program (Williams). Like others here, I have not heard anything from Williams, but I also was never invited to interview. I've just been expecting all rejections at this point, but is there actually any chance for me if they never interviewed? I just wish they'd have rejected me way before if they knew they didn't want me 😭.

Getting admitted to a PhD program in art history is bleak these days. Finishing the dissertation when there are fewer external grants and abusive advisors are rampant is bleaker. However, bleakest is the job market.

However, bleakest is the job market. Hi agnesmartin91, while I'm not disputing your point, I question why you felt the need to post this in this forum. I doubt anyone gets to the point of applying for graduate study in the field of art history (or the humanities at large) without a strong conviction to pursue it despite the odds. This feels unnecessarily negative at a time when people are likely still processing decision outcomes from this cycle that may or may not have been what they hoped. Wishing you the best!
