So is this board so quiet because no one is hearing anything? Do you think the AdCom's are going to completely ignore our apps over the snowpacalypse or do you think they will use the extra free time from teaching to get ahead on the stacks of reading samples and LOR's?!

I think the snow is probably working to delay things, especially here in the northeast, but thats no reason for slow pace coming from the rest of the country. The Results page seems to be very active with everything but Comm area.

That's right and it makes me nervous. Well, anything makes me nervous these days ;)

I only have a few Comm apps out, but none of them have really notified earlier than now to mid-February, with USC being the latest at the end of February into March, so I'm not stressing too much yet. However, one of my cultural studies programs has notified applicants this week in the past, which is nerve-wracking. As I was saying to my professor-mentor the other day, the waiting has become far more acute now that it's February.

That reminds me though, for those who are applying to USC, the PhD deadline was extended to February 11th. The Annenberg Admissions News page was updated a couple of days ago with a final date and not just the ambiguous "the deadline is being extended" bit. Not sure what that means for results, but I'm hoping it doesn't delay them too much. On the bright side, I do know that my USC app is with the committee now, after getting a disappearing LOR back into their hands, via the admissions coordinator.

I'm mildly curious-does anyone have an opinion on whether they think UNC will notify via postal service, as they have apparently done in years past? Given that they just revamped their online application system, I feel like they'll probably do email notification--and does anyone do postal service notification anymore anyway?

I suppose my facetiousness didn't come through in text. I was kidding about that. I don't know what makes me more pissed: the shoveling I just did, or the time I spent thinking (while shoveling) about how much longer it's going to take to find out my future because of this damn snow.

I feel so pissed off too. Syracuse said they would let us know at the end of Jan, but today is 02/03. This torturing is going to be so long...

Oregon was supposed to let applicants know by the "end of January", so I'm feeling you on that.

I admit it: 30 seconds ago was the first (!) time I almost had an heartattack when getting an e-mail. The subject line was in English, it was not from GradCafe, and it said something about communications and "file added"... My heart literally stopped. But it was just a notification from another website and had nothing to do with my applications....

Ha ha, sorry, sometimes it's hard to tell from text.

I'm in Florida where it is currently 63 degrees and mostly sunny. Before you get too jealous, rest assured the process on this side of the country isn't going any faster!

Good grief! With any luck, we'll hear back in April. Yikes. Why are they torturing us?!

Because they can, and they obviously will! (evil laugh)

Haha, isn't that the truth!

Hopefully not...from lurking around on College Confidential and here, it looks like they extended the deadline last year as well (seriously though, what are the reasons a program might do that?), and most decisions went out in March. But, who knows! For now, we'll remain tortured. dry.gif

It's so quiet here...How are things going for you guys? Heard anything yet? Hope it turns out all good news...

still nothing... I think the schools I should hear of first are Missouri and Iniana (in mid February, I hope...). But I'll keep you (or this forum) updated... this is the first time in my life going through an application process like this (we don't need to apply for college/university where I come from) and it's all new to me. So if I get rejected I'm going to mourn and whine here on this forum. And if I get accepted, you can be sure I'm going to celebrate here as well :)

Finger-crossed for us. Did you apply to UNC's Comm studies or mass comm?

I received two rejections this week, but both from cultural studies programs. Weirdly enough, after speaking to two of my LOR writers, I still have pretty high hopes for the rest of the applications.

Sorry about the rejections, but yeah, let's hope for the best
