nervousnelly Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I am guessing schools will not be put off of sending out rejections on Valentine's Day. Anyone think I'm wrong about this?
newms Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Yep. They can still break your heart on V Day
rmcclymo Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Dear Applicant, It is with much regret that we are breaking up with you. We have found another applicant who is not only hotter and smarter than you, but has better pedigree. I must be a glutton for punishment, because I cannot stop checking my e-mail, hoping that "someone" will be my valentine but fully expecting to get my heart stomped.
nervousnelly Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Apparently they can, and they have. That really stinks. I'm sorry to hear it. On the positive side, it looks like you applied to a good number of schools, so hopefully something will come through!
rmcclymo Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Yup, Yale broke up with me today :-( And, I didn't receive a Valentines Card either - ugh!!!
Iknownothing Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Yale broke up with me today, too. Not only is it Valentine's Day, It is also my birthday...sigh....

ThinMountainAir Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Yup, Yale dumped me today too. Oh well, c'est la vie.
♀HealthMatters Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Iknownothing, Happy Birthday! I have a great, life-long friend who also has a VDay-BDay. For those who received upsetting news today, remember tomorrow you might get the opportunity of a lifetime. You are all applying to such amazing programs and I was ecstatic over an acceptance to a rated program, no matter how close to number 100. I know you will all do very well no matter where you receive your PhDs! Happy Valentine's Day!
TaraDanielle Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I made it through Valentine's Day with no rejections. But...no school proclaimed their undying love and devotion to me either. Just one letter, grad schools? Please?

Just one letter, grad schools? Please? Maybe I will start my own institution and offer you all places. Why? Cause it is Valentine's and I love you all
Jeppe Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Today Yale broke up with me after two years of what I thought was a faithful and loyal relationship. Meh
KScrooge Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 At least chocolate was more readily accessible, thus easing the pain.
