Hey everyone, I have an amazing Lenovo from 2015. It still works great doing every day tasks, but if I try and do anything fancy like type too quickly it starts to freak out. I'm getting my PhD in epi starting in September and have the ability to split the cost of a new laptop with my employer (love small businesses). Does anyone have any technical specs if I'll need to be able to run R, SAS, and STATA on my laptop (brands, models, harddrive, ram, etc)? We get free copies of the software from school. Only issue- no Macs, I'm a Windows/Google girl. Thank you!

Y'all, it finally happened. I got accepted. I'm going to get a PhD in epi! UMass may not be ranked t10, but it's a great school and in three years I'll have the degree. Anyone else going to accepted student day tomorrow?

I'm over 30, applying for MCH epi, and also about to try and get my eggs frozen for a time when I've completed coursework. We're all a bit nuts, but I wouldn't have it any other way ❤️

Congratulations to those getting good news today! I applied to Brown for epi and haven't heard anything. I did hear from Penn State (DrPH epi) stating they had begun reviewing applications.

I can get more tea at work tomorrow. Right now it's more PhDs who have faculty appointments an teach sometimes rather than core faculty jumping. Some of them are senior scientists with 30+ years as faculty. The dean also is very glamorous and loves the attention. He doesn't care about MPH students as future scientists, just as dollar signs. He's also trying to cut ties with VA and other research organizations/agencies because "they don't serve the school." However, this is very much an HPM issue, not SPH-wide thing. Well, the dean is schoolwide, but...

I didn't apply, but I'm an alum of BUSPH and work in Boston. That department is currently imploding and faculty are jumping.

I received an interview invite yesterday at Maryland for MCH. I haven't heard anything else. No matter what there's always next year when we'll be even better candidates!
