I still haven't heard from Bama and I applied by January 1 which was their MA/PhD funding deadline. Also, everything goes through their grad admissions office and they require everything six weeks ahead of departmental deadlines so I'd give them a call. Brandeis has merit and need-based assistance, but I'm not sure if the PhD deadline is as late as the MA.

Aww, thanks. As much as I love to claim the North as my birthplace (lies, but my family is from Boston) I don't really want to deal with ice and snow that come by the foot. So, I can take by the inch in the smoky mountains or not at all in Baton Rouge. Plus, I'm still 2/3 in the SEC, so I've got some great football

Boo! I've been rejected three times today so I need funding! Though, perhaps they do it on Wednesday and give me a nice package because of Mardi Gras. One can hope.
-
I think you mean "jorts" - totes obvi.
-
No word yet, but I keep having nightmares that they will send me an email saying "jk, no funding, lolz!" at which point I'll cry. I'll pm you when I hear!

Regarding the SEC, I just love football, and some of the schools have pretty solid programs so why not. I went to college in Atlanta, a small liberal arts women's college. No one has ever heard of it unless you read Princeton Review's top college guide, and even then people have no idea. It's called Agnes Scott College. I miss it! I drove through Jacksonville a few months ago - I'm just glad to know that no one in the state can drive on 95 and it isn't just down here.

I work at Planned Parenthood, and I'm a Patriots fan. Tebow and I were never going to be friends!
-
Just got my letter - rejected. Same letter, verbatim, as last year -- this year, however, the DGS didn't include a post-it note saying to apply again next year. Oh well! Now I won't feel so bad for hating Tim Tebow.

Just another 14 days and we'll know if the past is any indicator!

I'm off to two visit days in the next two weeks. I know that this seems like a silly question, but what should I wear? It is easier for guys, pants, shirt, tie, etc. But, women have so many more options. Dress, skirt, suit (pants or skirt). Both are in the south, so walking around campus will be warm, but dressing appropriately is key. Any advice?

Crocker and Carter. Auburn and Syracuse are the only two apps I can't check online and it is killing me. I just want to know!
-
Has anyone else applied to Florida? If so - MA or PhD? Who did you mention in your statement? Most importantly, have you heard anything? This is my second round of applications for the MA at UF, and got my rejection letter last year on March 16. Watching the days get closer is killing me. Good luck, and Go Gators!

I'm waiting for 10, but you are all PhD and mine are all MA except Temple. I've heard from two schools, both were positive, but I'd like to know how many options I truly have. I was told funding offers would be coming soon, too! We'll see what happens. Is it normal for MA apps to find out a few weeks later than PhD or should I just count on them all as auto-rejects?
-
I applied to UConn for the MA, but have heard nothing. After the above, I assume auto reject.
-
I have only received two e-mails from department secretaries. While I did e-mail at least one POI at each of the 14 schools I applied to, only a few returned my e-mails. I have decided, for my ego's sake, that it is because I am 'just' a MA student and not PhD (yet).
-
I was invited to American's CAS grad event in March, but obviously will not attend unless I am admitted. I'm quite the slacker, I haven't even applied to Mason yet - but I'm applying for the MA, not the PhD.
-
I was told that Temple PhDs and consolation MAs are out and I've got nothing, so my top choice is out, too. I even interviewed! Mazel tov to everyone's new acceptances, and for those who have heard otherwise, I'm sorry. Season is just beginning, so hang in there.

My Gmail only offers me Viagra. I'm a woman. FAIL. On a happier note, it's as official as I feel like it will be from LSU. They sent me an email that said I had up until the first day of classes in the fall to get them my grad certificate transcript that officially said I got degree. Yay?
-
I understand. Waiting is so hard. I found out about Tennessee which is ranked lower, but money (and overall fit) talk. We'll see. I was told last week when I was accepted that funding information will me e-mailed first week of March. What were you told?
-
Thanks! That sounds wonderful. Ironically, as I just wished for a choice in the end, and I was accepted from Tennessee. I guess OCD has its good moments (though I may soon develop carpel tunnel from hitting 'reload'). I looking forward to visiting Baton Rouge and NOLA.

Last year I applied to 5 MA programs and 1 PhD program. Not only was I rejected from all six (not surprising, as I had no sense of purpose), but I didn't know a thing until the last week of March (UF, UMass). The rest did not come until April. It is really early, so I'm hopeful that I'll hear something soon. I was accepted last week from LSU, but I still have 13 apps (all MA, except for Temple) with unknown outcomes. I assume I will be rejected from all. I've started looking for apartments in Baton Rouge. I know this isn't the first time for some of you. Are many of you first-timers? For those who are in and have knowledge -- do you think a department is turned off by back-to-back applications? If so, I know I can cross Temple, UF, and UMass off my list as potential choices.

Iknownothing, Happy Birthday! I have a great, life-long friend who also has a VDay-BDay. For those who received upsetting news today, remember tomorrow you might get the opportunity of a lifetime. You are all applying to such amazing programs and I was ecstatic over an acceptance to a rated program, no matter how close to number 100. I know you will all do very well no matter where you receive your PhDs! Happy Valentine's Day!
-
I got it, too! I called on an unrelated note, because they claim to only have one of my LoRs, but all three were sent from Interfolio together in the same envelope. Ha!
-
How did you find out about Temple? It is among my top choices, for the second year in a row!
