history_PhD Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Just bumping this up. Still no word from anyone else, I take it? I vote that someone calls. . . .
natsteel Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I still haven't heard anything either. Maybe a week or two ago my status changed to something about my application having been sent to the Graduate School for review.
HistoryGrizzly Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Mine hasn't changed at all, still says the same "in-review" thing. Could mean good things for you.
ndk Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 My status is still "in review" as well. I just found a typo in my writing sample, too, so that's pretty cool.
datroy Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Just bumping this up. Still no word from anyone else, I take it? I vote that someone calls. . . . The Graduate School just decided University fellowships on Tuesday. It may have been that the department needed to hear from the Graduate School about that before they could make final decisions so they would know how many people they would need to fund- as it sounds like they try to fund everyone they accept.
ruby505 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) I got an acceptance email from OSU back in Feb., and an email with a fellowship offer yesterday. Fellowship decisions are definitely done, so that should mean they're moving on to the next round of admissions. Good luck all! Edited March 10, 2011 by ruby505
HistoryGrizzly Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Soon then, maybe. Be nice if I could get all my answers by this weekend! That's probably wishful thinking though.
ndk Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Soon then, maybe. Be nice if I could get all my answers by this weekend! That's probably wishful thinking though. You and I both!
Jon Alfred Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I just called and they told me that all remaining applications are in a holding pattern until the end of March when they will make final decisions. I hope that helps
TMP Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 holding pattern? What is that? Thanks for making the call!
HistoryGrizzly Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) How delightfully vague and unhelpful. Edit to add: there's a listing from OSU on the results page today. Someone was waitlisted yesterday...or is that Jon Alfred assuming everyone in the holding pattern is on the de facto waiting list? Edited March 15, 2011 by HistoryGrizzly
natsteel Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 That was me. I got an email from the DGS saying I had been waitlisted...
historyhopeful Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) A bit weird-- I declined the offer of admission early last week, and just today received an email asking me to decline the university fellowship that I apparently received. Never got an email about that one (and kind of want to know the terms now, though I'm still declining!) ETA: Ok, just found the email in my spam box. Stopped checking that once I heard from all of my programs! Edited March 15, 2011 by historyhopeful

The holding pattern was the term given to me by the History department. Edited March 15, 2011 by Jon Alfred
crom11217 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Checked my spam folder on a whim, and found an email from OSU History Dept. Grad Studies Committee Chair from Monday saying that i had been waitlisted... 300 applicants for 20 spots. Oh well!
HistoryGrizzly Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I didnt even get the waitlist email. I think it's finally time to make a phone call. Tomorrow. Even if they just tell me I'm on a wait list, at least I'll know.
TMP Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 OSU have just closed their books. They're done with admissions decisions and will be sending out declination letters. So, no go for me.
HistoryGrizzly Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Well, at least this is answer week for me. Rutgers finally posted their results on the website. Just one more fish to fry, then I can start making plans.
history_PhD Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Called a few days ago; letters will be out next week.
Jon Alfred Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Just checked the graduate school website and was told I was declined. Maybe next year. Time to look for a job?
history_PhD Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Just checked the graduate school website and was told I was declined. Maybe next year. Time to look for a job? I wish MY rejection would hurry up and get here; I just want the process to be over now.
HistoryGrizzly Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I emailed a few days ago to get my rejection. I'm about to email IU again as well. It's just plain discourteous at this point to take so long.
