I think it's only for people who received offers with funding. That's the impression I got when I emailed the program director.

I just got an email, and that is what I was told. I hate this catch 22 BS. They accept and tell you that they really want you to attend, but not really, because they don't want to fund you or welcome you to their invitation weekend. Makes me slightly sick.

Could someone explain this comment? I'm interested in the program, so I'm curious why it might be considered shady...

I don't have any insider information either way. All I can say is that it's an anonymous internet comment on a public forum. How could you take it seriously? Ask faculty you trust who would know about the program for their private thoughts.

 Unfortunately, my advisor isn't familiar with the program. The comment piqued my interest, but I promise not to make decisions based on an anonymous forum.

My MA institution extended an offer to a graduate from there in 2012. She was incredibly intelligent and well spoken, excellent in the classroom, and very prepared for the campus visit. She ended up accepting a job elsewhere, but I feel like that's a good sign? I didn't really look into the program much as I'm not particularly interested in digital aspects of rhetoric, but I've only ever heard good things about the program.

Anyone get accepted without having a masters degree in "related field"? Mine will be a master of divinity in missiology. Emailed director and he said taking a few extra courses in rhetoric/communication would help my chances but I'm taking a full load already this semester.
