Chris, you certainly know better than I do, since you contacted the dept. directly. I'm just trying to look on the bright side! Are you going into Lit. or Rhetoric? I noticed that crutch has been admitted to Lit., and I wonder if that makes any difference. At any rate, many congrats to you and to all who've been accepted!!!

I scrolled through the forums from last year, and I think it seems as if those of us who were admitted in Feb. are probably the first round, because in 2010 many people didn't receive notification until March.

An open question to all of the other lucky admits wondering about funding: do you have teaching experience? I do, but I'm not sure how helpful that is. Ugh, waiting is so painful!

Hi, Sunny. I'm a rhet/comp person. I do have teaching experience, and I'm sure the wait won't be long since March is....next week. I think there are other programs out there (where I got my MA, for one) that admit first and sort out funding later.

Congrats to you, too!

I was admitted with only my BA. I wonder if I won't get funding because of that? I got into the Lit program, and the only "teaching experience" I have is from working my college's writing center. It's so strange, waiting has actually become harder since I've started hearing back from places! Congrats to people already admitted and to everyone still waiting, good luck!

I have a Master's and have one semester of teaching experience, so I guess that might've helped. Most likely I will be turning the offer down soon, so that should open funding for at least one other person, I would think.

I've officially emailed the program coordinator, and I let her know that I would not be accepting the offer. She has already responded, so hopefully the funding will get sent someone else's way quickly (if they do indeed have some sort of wait list).

Thanks for keeping on top of this stuff, guys! I got accepted with my BA and don't have teaching experience...so I doubt I'll get funding when there are so many better qualified candidates out there. My main appeal is my spirit/spunk, which I feel I communicated well in my application. I'm seriously thrilled about the prospect of introducing English Studies to students who have less than high hopes for the course. I know that's silly and nerdy, but hey, I'm on these boards so that's expected, right? =)

I just emailed the program coordinator to let her know that I will not be accepting my offer.

Hope this helps someone on here who is on the wait-list!
