Hi Everyone,

Hope you guys are receiving the good news. I, on the other hand, have not been doing very well but today, I saw that my status at georgia tech(PhD in BME) was finally updated from "no decision has been made" to "action-dept decision pending". Funny thing is, now in the documents sections, I have two new documents that popped up, 1) Visa/I-20 and 2) Final transcript from my ugrad both marked missing. Reading this, my mind is trying to take it as an admit, but my sane brain tells me not. So for those lucky ones who have already been admitted or rejected (I say lucky for the ones who were rejected because not knowing anything is really killing me), did you guys go through the same "no decision" to "action-dept decision pending"?

Thanks lots and hope all of you are doing great!

This usually means the graduate college is forwarding your application to the department for a decision. I have an application in a similar status. I imagine that the graduate college likely makes sure min. requirements are met, and lets the department have the final word. Interpret that as you'd like.

No good news on my end from GaTech as they took a really long time to update the status from "No decision has been made" to "PreEval-Dept. Decision Pending" which it only recently changed to. I don't see a space for Visa/I-20 (they already have my final transcript). So that could mean potentially good news for you or it could just be another step in the processing. Good luck!

I went through the same process. It started by saying "No decision" through mid-January and then "action-dept decision pending." Less than two weeks ago, I was notified by the department (Psychology) of my acceptance via phone. Only a couple of days ago was my status changed to "Admitted." I think all departments at Tech probably go through the same general stages but just at different times. Your change in status hopefully means you'll be hearing a decision soon. Good luck!

This exact same thing happened to me a couple months ago (status changed to Dept. Decision Pending + two new docs in req. docs section)

It hasn't changed since that! At first I thought it was a good sign, but now I agree with UFGator -- it's probably just the application has been forwarded from the university-wide grad office to the department.

@meow: is your status "action"-dept. decision pending or "pre-eval"- dept. decision pending?

oh noes :( I'm sorry to hear that.. did your status on buzzport also say "action-dept.decision pending" and show missing documents such as your final transcript?

can be good news! look at this:

http://www.edulix.com/forum/archive/index.php/thread-83641.html (should register first to see) there is a discussion similar to your case.

Action means that your application is under review by the department, and if they need more documents for administrative stuff (not about your qualifications), it may mean that your application is at least shortlisted (or you may be admitted). keep us updated on your status.

mine is pre-eva dept decision pending. In the documents sections, I think the visa form is eligible for the international students. I am really eager to know the result, too. Figure cross for all applicants.

Anyone applying to Tech have any updates? I've been in "Action-Dept. Decision Pending" for 3 weeks now and the waiting is KILLING ME!!! I figure this can't last more than another week. I'm applying to the HCI program in the College of Computing.

My application to HCC said it was incomplete and missing a transcript all the way up until the day I got a rejection letter from them. I had it sent twice.

...and the email rejection said that I could look forward to a snail mail rejection just to make it official. I have not received this a week later, despite the fact that I'm a few hours away from Atlanta.

I got an email saying that my buzzport password was about to expire though.
