Still waiting. I finally broke down and wrote her yesterday morning and I'm still waiting on a response. This really has gotten very silly....

A Harris grad has made some very helpful comments on this board and knows of the frustration being expressed here, a current Harris student started an "ask me" chat several days ago as the big wave of acceptances started, and the Admissions Office has sent out 2 separate "we'll be late with decisions" emails. The Harris Admissions Office has admitted, rejected, waitlisted, and offered big packages - or no financial aid - to people with last names from A to Z. It's clear that a bunch of folks haven't heard anything yet - including at least one with near perfect GRE scores with admits to more competitive places. I don't get it. The office is acting like the airline pilots who keep the plane on the tarmac without giving honest, accurate status updates. This doesn't seem like the way the University of Chicago would manage anything, even if there's been a meltdown of technology and staff. How about some transparency.

Harris grad here. I'm very sorry to hear that some of you folks are still waiting. This does not reflect well on either the Harris School or UChicago.

This may or may not help you this year, but it may help others down the road: you might consider sending an email to the Dean, Colm O'Muircheartaigh. He is a fine and conscientious person, and I expect that he would want to hear about anything that may cause Harris to lose prospective students. His email address is:

colm@uchicago.edu

Good luck to you all.

I am also one of those still waiting with no reply to an email from yesterday. I attempted to call today, but of course the mailbox was full . . . I have been accepted to several other strong programs and think that Harris is now at the bottom of my list since I only have a couple weeks to decide between Sanford/Duke, LBJ/Texas, GSPP/Berkeley, Georgetown, Evans/UW, UCLA, USC, GSPP and Trachtenberg. and haven't even had to chance to consider Harris since I don't know if I am in or not. Very surprised and disappointed in Harris. I think I'll be heading to NC or Austin this fall!

Also waiting on Ph.D. decision. Have any Ph.D. applicants heard?

i got the rejection email today. and i feel good and released. good luck!!

are only phd guys left who are waiting? I am an MPP applicant.

I'm also MPP and waiting. Is it sad that I'm jealous of the rejection simply because they have a response?

A few, it seems mostly rejections. I'm still waiting too. I caved and emailed them earlier in the week.

Has anyone else received any general updates?

Harris will hold a campus visit next Monday. So if nothing happens in our mailbox this week, it means... sigh...

Also waiting and really tired of it. I can't believe Harris.

So sorry that you folks are still waiting. This is ridiculous. Perhaps you should call the school directly. I got an admit but I turned down the offer like a bad habit when it took forever to hear from Harris. This is just not the way to do things. How can you expect students to make a decision about coming for the Admitted Students day when they have less than a week to hear about a damn decision. I sent an e-mail to the Dean of Graduate Studies at Chicago last week, expressing my displeasure. Waiting to hear back from him...good luck and I hope the wait is not for too long. It just sucks!

Will there be a silent rej? It's definetely not the way a top University does!! I cannot believe it either!!

Argh, can't believe some people are still waiting, either. I agree--this is seriously silly/unprofessional. Wonder how it will affect their yield this year?

Current Harris Student here. I'm really sorry to hear about the delays. I have brought it to the attention of the administration so that it won't happen again in the future. The admissions department is currently undergoing some personnel/process changes, and I think this is what is causing the delays. I urge potential students to look beyond this and keep in mind all that Harris has to offer. The admissions process is not indicative of the value of a Harris MPP degree.

Any MPP applicant still waiting?

mppm, do you know when will they send out the rest of the decisions? I find it really strange that by far they have only sent out ad but no rej/wl. Is it possible that they're waiting to hear back from those admitted?

Thanks, mppm. I know that the delays are in no way a reflection of Harris's profs, curriculum or students--or even the good intentions of the admissions staff. I think most admits realize this too, but I do wonder if they lost some potential students due to the lateness of their decisions. For what it's worth, Chicago is off my list not because of the admissions process but because of financial reasons; if I could afford them they'd still be in the running. ;)
