Has anyone heard anything from SDSU's MSW program? I was rejected last year, so I am trying again this year with another years experience of volunteer work. I was on the wait list until the very start of the semester last year. I applied to the 3 year direct practice program. I haven't heard anything and it has been over a month.

I applied early January and have not heard anything official from SDSU. My application appears to have been in review since 02/09 from what I can see on the SDSU Web Portal page. I applied to the 2 year CYF concentration. Best of luck!

Have you heard anything else yet? Congrats on the NYU acceptance!

I e-mailed someone from SDSU and was told I should get an update on Thursday, 3/17...

@MSW Hopeful

Sorry for the late reply! I can never remember my password for this forum and have been lazy to reset and do all that haha.

Congrats on your acceptance! I know I went through the same feelings when I got that first acceptance letter. Cherish it!

A few days ago I received my financial aid award statement from SDSU via email. It appears that I was not awarded any work study or scholarships :( - but I was awarded some options for loans with good interest rates :). From the looks of it, I will personally be declining - but I wish you all the best!

I was accepted, too. I am worried about the job outlook though. I already have a masters (in criminology), though you know to work in social work, you need an MSW. My original career goals aren't working out due to the federal government not hiring, so I need to switch gears, and was thinking an MSW is the way to go. However, I am really worried that I will graduate with an MSW and still not be able to find a job. Does anyone have any information on the job outlook or job finding rates of MSW grads?

If anyone who was accepted could give me their stats that would be fantastic!!!! I am applying to SDSU's Fall 2012 MSW. It is my first choice and I'm nervous I won't get in.

Major GPA: 3.9

Last 60 Units: 3.75

Overall: 3.36 (I screwed up at community college)

Worked at Psych hospital for 6 months.

Volunteer at Vet Center every week

GRE: Haven't taken it

I want to get into the Direct Practice Concentration. I want to get my MSW and take the exam to get my LCSW. I want to work in San Diego at the VA medical center with vets.
