So I've noticed that some CVs make the distinction between invited presentations and presentations. What is the difference?

If the organizers of a session at a conference invite you to give a talk, that's termed "invited". Otherwise, if you submitted an abstract of your proposed talk and it was accepted for presentation at the conference, then that's just a regular presentation. From what I've seen at science conferences, invited speakers are usually professors who are well established in their field; the other speakers are usually junior faculty or postdocs.

Exactly what the above posters said. An invited talk at a conference really prestigious because it means the organizers want you to be there.

I'd add a third type of invited talk: Sometimes people list their job talks as invited talks, though sometimes this is frowned upon. It's not as prestigious as invited conference talks or invited deparmental talks anyway.
