mimoma Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Hellooo, I stil haven't heard from Pratt and I was wondering whether anyone else has? x
savethewolves Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Not yet -- I'm also wondering. I applied in New Genres.
Jayyy Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I received email today that notices interview schedule. However, I give up because I plan to go to another school. I applied MFA in painting.
mimoma Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Not yet -- I'm also wondering. I applied in New Genres. I also applied to New Forms. @ Jayy: Did you get the whole interview schedule already? Was it just for painting or the whole Fine Arts course?
Jayyy Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I also applied to New Forms. @ Jayy: Did you get the whole interview schedule already? Was it just for painting or the whole Fine Arts course? I am not sure, but they said that "Pratt Interview for Fall 2011 Master of Fine Arts Program"
caraa Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 i applied for painting and haven't heard anything yet
Cobalt Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I was wait listed and now have an interview in a few weeks.
mimoma Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 Hi there, I'm the same, I got waitlisted and have now an interview for tomorrow! I was wait listed and now have an interview in a few weeks.
Cobalt Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Hi there, I'm the same, I got waitlisted and have now an interview for tomorrow! Awesome! Good luck! You'll have to let us know how it goes. Are you going in person or over the phone/Skype? I'm going in person since I've never visited the campus.
christophinoz Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Waitlist letter sent 24 March via snail mail to the UK stating that they are reviewing it on 1 May. In the depths of Africa so didn't know until late last week.
caraa Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 For those of you with interviews, how did they let you know? in the letter or did they contact you after?
mimoma Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 They emailed me and stated taht i am ranked high on the waitlist and that they would like to set up an interview in case of people not taking their offers. Not sure how many people they will invite though, I guess it is depending on how high you are ranked on the waiting list! Hope that helps. For those of you with interviews, how did they let you know? in the letter or did they contact you after?
savethewolves Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I also have an "I'm high on the waitlist" interview next week. (for new genres)
savethewolves Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Is anyone on the forum going to Pratt? If so, why have you decided on this program? I'd love to hear all thoughts about what makes this program a good choice.
herkind Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 has anyone NOT heard back from pratt yet? because I sure haven't!
Cobalt Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Is anyone on the forum going to Pratt? If so, why have you decided on this program? I'd love to hear all thoughts about what makes this program a good choice. @savethewolves: how did your interview go? I had a tour of the campus from a first year grad student and she was really happy with the program. She also felt like the proximity to NYC was a huge asset because there were that many more opportunities, not only for exhibiting but for internships in museums and galleries. She had just dropped off work for a gallery show. The program sounds like it is super supportive of whatever style or media you work in. They have a breadth and depth of styles and media with the same in the caliber of their teachers.
savethewolves Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Hi cobalt - interview was good though I felt a bit "grilled." I got some good critical feedback, though. I ended up getting accepted, but decided Pratt is just too large of a program for me... and could ultimately feel a bit impersonal. It is also really expensive. But I hope it is perfect for you and you go there if you want to!
dalek Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Pratt is a terrible school. Don't waste your money. Seriously. I just lost a year of my life and $60K and have nothing to show for it. Most of my friends feel the same way.
Babar_Suleman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 ^ That's worrying! I do think it's terribly unprofessional of Pratt to only have compiled and submitted my application to my department last week even though I submitted it fully complete January 5! Even if I get accepted, I won't be able to do anything about it after March 30.

Even if I get accepted, I won't be able to do anything about it after March 30. They told me that too...but I'm still pretty excited about it and NYC. Advice on interview anyone? Babar_Suleman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Were you called for interview already?! Where is my letter, Pratt? *angry* I want to get accepted with funding to Pratt so I can use it as a negotiating tool with my top choice.
Babar_Suleman Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 ^ Don't jinx it! Maybe it's your lucky day and you're going to get an acceptance from Columbia too!
ysun71088 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 ^ Don't jinx it! Maybe it's your lucky day and you're going to get an acceptance from Columbia too! Haha I already got the rejection...I expected it, I couldn't replace the draft of my statement with the misused word on it...yeah I really should have worked harder for those application, but for the longest time all this just didn't seem real.
dalek Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Take the processing of your application as a note of how the school is. They don't care about you and you will spend your entire education fighting bureaucracy and teachers that just do not care. Also, if you are getting aid or funding, don't count on getting it for at least four weeks after each term starts. The appeal of NYC is not worth the trouble and angst you will endure at Pratt. It will take away your desire to even do anything fun because it consumes you. I am not exaggerating when I say that I have not met or spoken with one person that feels even partially satisfied with the education here. This place is a degree factory robbing you of your money and giving nothing in return. I have actually begun to acquire legal counsel with some others to sue on the basis of educational malpractice.
