wustl Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Anyone else here applying for the Fulbright-Fogarty Public Health projects? Any idea whether those will be sent out today as well (it says Jan 31st on the site)???
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Oh, come ON!! Please tell me I'm not the only guy getting wildly impatient here...
wustl Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 By the way, my school's Fulbright person claims they haven't heard anything (for any program) but knows "it's coming soon" -- I wonder if she's just trying to let me down easy!
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 @wustl - Did you ask her if she's logged into the system? Maybe she doesn't realize it's available online because she hasn't gotten an email yet either...? Just a thought.
Molly Rowland Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 My current distraction=watching unsolved mysteries. seriously?!
TPliske8711 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 For those who get accepted to Germany's step two process its much better than 50%, its about 65% actually if they accept 1.5x the actual number. However, that obviously is much lower if its 2x....
vordhosbntwin Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 this is fucking miserable, probably another hour.
wustl Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Oh, and while I'm at it, the "twitter" post mentioned above was something some school linked to about the number of awardees in the 2011-12 year: /http://chronicle.com/article/Top-Producers-of-US/129452/ So nothing to get too excited about

Maybe she doesn't realize it's available online because she hasn't gotten an email yet either...? Just a thought. I did not, but don't feel like pestering her anymore--I actually applied "at large" because I missed the deadline for my school...whoops. Hope that doesn't hurt my chances.
lkahmil Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 By the way, my school's Fulbright person claims they haven't heard anything (for any program) but knows "it's coming soon" -- I wonder if she's just trying to let me down easy! Maybe you go to a school that has a lot of willpower... If this login thing is true... They have the information... My adviser said to me in a e-mail "Fingers Crossed" and that was it... Some advisers have more willpower than the next... and or have kinder hearts... As someone told me on Twitter about the Fulbright wait... "This wait is a beast!"
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 @wustl Lots of us (including me, actually) are at large, fwiw. I guess we should all try to hang in there -- only an hour more, tops. Right? RIGHT?? (What, me worry?) If you're at large, she may not actually even be able to see it, right, because you're not on the school's list? Not sure how it works.
jmv34 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Not that they'd send them at the exact same hour and minute as last year, but my rejection came at 6:40pm last year
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 jmv34, let's hope they come up with an earlier and better answer this time Are you applying for the same country this year?
Molly Rowland Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I have a feeling that unis with a smaller pool of applicants are more likely to let their students know than those with 20 + applicants.

All good points--she made it sound like she just hadn't heard anything from them about anyone--I was just asking in the off chance that she had a master list. I guess I'll just be waiting for the email like the rest of you...when I should be productive instead
TPliske8711 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Ugh, it sucks that my advisor is probably still away on break and not checking her emails. This could have all been solved long ago.
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Okay, sorry to keep posting so often, but did Ms. Doble or anyone else actually specifically SAY we'd hear at 6? Or just "tonight"? :|

Let's just hope they send out the letters all at the same time... because some of us have to work with a time difference... and that would be even worst... Think of the people in California!!
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 It looks like last year everyone heard basically at once, right? At least maybe the Californians have had 3 fewer hours of counting down today
jmv34 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 jmv34, let's hope they come up with an earlier and better answer this time Are you applying for the same country this year? no...I applied to the uk last year despite the warnings about it being particularly difficult to get a uk fulbright, having a project and justification that I was really confident about. I learned my lesson. but yeah, let's hope...
MarcelloMarcelli Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Let's hope indeed! Where are you applying this time around?
