Eric Bee Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Congrats! I doubt I can expect Romania to be so prompt. The fulbright romania website does say they usually make decisions in march, though...
bdoll Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) Congrats! I doubt I can expect Romania to be so prompt. TPliske8711 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Yea, I dont expect Germany this or next week. Feels too soon since I would imagine they are only just receiving or have just received their full applications from the US

c.wandren Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Do you think notifications will go out over the weekend? Or will we end up waiting till monday again?
redArcher Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I JUST GOT MY ACCEPTANCE! GO CHECK YOUR E_MAILS, FOLKS! Woooooo! Congratulations!!! :-) I am excited about and look forward to getting my e-mail.
bdoll Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 <groan> I know you sent this to give me hope, but I worry that this means they are going out and I didn't get one... Did you apply for a specialist grant? I think those go out first because they are processed on a rolling basis, not all at once like ETA and full grants so I wouldn't worry too much! (unless you applied for a specialist grant).
Eric Bee Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 no, I applied for a full grant, so that's good to know
T Pain Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I have some information regarding the confusion over my early notification. The short story is that Rachel Holskin won't acknowledge it. She responded to my email confirming my mailing of my signed copies of the "terms of fellowship" document to NY by saying that I hadn't been notified. I was like, "What do you mean I haven't been notified?" Basically, she was saying that the NY office hadn't notified me.... This means that when the FPAs were notified that notification would come via email, that has nothing to do with whether any of us receive notification from the various country commissions. The two notifications appear to be parallel processes, and, in my case, Belgium jumped the gun--sending physical notification before email. Rachel was adamant that, as a representative of the NY office, she couldn't speak to my application--even though I have a letter from the Executive Director of the Belgian Commission. Bureaucracy blows.
1CrazyLady Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 The e-mail came from CIES, and the subject line was: Fulbright Application. I didn't even really brace myself for opening it, because I was assuming it was something bureaucratic, rather than the actual notification. THe 'official' letter is attached, and it's on Fulbright COmmission letter head with a mailing address on it.
bkenney Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I'm assuming this means I did not recieve a grant from Belgium, then. My 'permanent address' has yet to recieve anything of note. Oh, well.

Don't give up hope yet: you may be alternate, if not accepted. I know a Belgian alternate-turned-accepted from three years back. He received nothing physically at first, then email, then physical, then another email.....

lg702 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Eric Bee--Romania, right?! If I get accepted for Armenia I'm coming to hang out. I'm DYING to go to the Balkans!!! Also, congrats T Pain and CrazyLady!!! So stoked for you Edited March 10, 2012 by lg702
emma_and_alice Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Another UK-er here...desperately seeking information since, according to my calculation, we could have received notification as early as Tuesday. At least its good to know that others are in the same boat. And that we are all "seasick."
kbui Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 This Fulbright forum is going to give me a heart attack T_T lol
CairoKid Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I checked the Turkish Fulbright Commission's website, and then their Facebook page, in hopes that something would say, "Making our finals selections and hope to send decisions soon!" ... But alas, there is nothing useful.

Stately Plump Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Just for clarification, are we definitely expecting an "unofficial" email, followed by the official mail? I'm waiting to hear back from Finland. I'm worried that they'll make a decision but then send it in the mail, thus not notifying me in time for me to notify my grad programs... Aggghghhs. I just want to know all the things.

I think it's the opposite. It's not official until we get the email from Fulbright. The letters are coming from the Fulbright commissions abroad and are not being recognized without the email as far as I gather.

Will I get a letter from the agency abroad--in a few weeks, say--and then get an email from Fulbright? Or will I get an official email from Fulbright with a follow up letter from the agency abroad?

Or will I get an official email from Fulbright with a follow up letter from the agency abroad? In theory it should be the latter. But you could be like T Pain and get a physical letter first. There's no telling.
